“poor service”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 May 2012

We never received the set of towels we requested. My 6 foot tall son used the hand towel after his shower. The toilet wouldn't flush properly so we just left. I wonder why the manager only responds to positive comments online?

“Could Be Better”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 May 2012

I'll have to admit that I was disappointed in this hotel. We stopped here on our way up to New England. Our GPS led us to some other part of Tigue Rd that didn't really give us a warm and fuzzy feeling late at night. We called the hotel and they assisted us with directions. Apparently it happens all the time.... The check-in went smoothly and the staff was friendly. The hotel is obviously under renovation with construction equipment all around. Our room was on the first level near the indoor pool. It looked as if our room had already been renovated, but I was not too impressed. The room with two double beds was small. We had two adults and two children and it felt very cramped. In my opinion, they should have knocked down some walls to make the rooms larger. The bathroom was tiny with the door almost touching the toilet when you opened and closed the door. I was surprised that this would pass building code. The beds were comfortable enough and the room seemed clean. Our sink was clogged and water came close to overflowing every time someone brushed their teeth or washed their face. Very annoying. The breakfast buffet was okay. They had rubbery scrambled eggs, bacon, toast, yogurt, juice, cereal, and some pastries. I've had much better breakfast at other hotels. I feel bad for whoever is taking the time to renovate this place because I think they need to start over again. In order to be competitive with newer hotels, they really need to up their game. Sorry.

“Unique Hotel for the Area”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 March 2012

We stayed for two nights with the purpose of going to the St. Pattys day parade in Scranton, PA. The hotel is designed almost to look like the inside of the hotel is the "outside". The pool and jacuzzi are in the center of the hotel and they are very clean. You would think the hotel would smell like chlorine but it does not at all! It would be perfect for a family reunion or large groups.

The rooms are a bit on the smaller side and it is a bit awkward having your windows face the hallway. It is almost like it is a outdoor corridor hotel but on the inside. However you can just keep curtains closed for privacy. The staff were friendly and able to meet any requests. There are fridges in the room and vending machines throughout the hotel.

The hotel is a bit far from Scranton but we knew that when we booked it. During a non-peak time you shouldn't have any trouble getting a cab to Scranton. It is just a 10 minute ride.

If you need to stay in the Scranton area but don't desire immediate access to the downtown area I highly recommend this hotel.

“Never again”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 March 2012

An unresonsive staff, broken gym equipment, a filthy pool and being in a room next to constantly barking dogs are enough to keep me away from here for good.
We booked a hotel last weekend because it seemed nice in photos and was cheap. Check in took 15 minutes, as the couple in front of us was chitchatting with the clerk about random, non-hotel related things. This is fine, but can't you chat and check us in at the same time. Despite a nearly empty hotel, our room was placed right nexttoa room with two dogs in it. The dogs kept barked for literally hours on end while their owners were out. We called the front desk who said therr was nothing they could do except move us to another room....hours after we had unpacked! No one was willing to call the dogs owners about theirdogs pitching a fit for hours.

The hotel advertises a gym. Whatthey actually have is 1 woking and 1 broken treadmill, a brokenweight machine and a bike. The hottubwas filled with splashing kids and no parents present and the pool literally had garbage floating in it in a couple of places. To top it, no one bothered to re-stock the pool towels, just an empty rack.

This hotel seems nice on the outside, but it's poorly run. Why an empty hotel would room someone directly next to a room with dogs is beyond me. The staff is impolite, poor facilities and a general atmosphere of not caring about the customer don't make this a worthy investment.

“Not worth a return visit”

My family decided to spend New Years Eve here. There were 16 of us. We rented 5 rooms. Honestly I agree with some of the other reviewers. A lot of small issues. When I made our reservation I requested two connecting rooms. I was told that I was the first one on the "request list". When we checked in I was told that they gave it away. They said I could have the connecting rooms on the 3rd floor. Those were reseved by other members in my party. nice. We opted to jsut take two rooms next to each other. The rooms were small and could have been cleaner. The towels in the room were wet! My husband had to bring them to the desk and request dry ones. The pool was freezing. They advertise a heated pool. I asked the front desk and the girl told me that it wasnt a heated pool. OK. The hot tub was warm at best. That became a kiddie pool because the big pool was too cold to swim in. I even asked again at the desk if there was something they could do and they said no. There was never enough towels by the pool. You had to go to the desk to request towels. they actually startd putting piles of them on the counter. Why not by the pool? I don't know. We decided to eat dinner in the restaurant because we didnt want to get on the road with the kids. The waitress was bothered by such a large crowd and was trying to convince us to leave. Unbelievable. Despite the issues we had a great time. In speaking to other families there that were celebrating they were also unhappy. At one point the police were called on a family that was sitting in the social area next to the pool. I am not sure why. They didnt seem to be doing anything. I did bring these things to the attention of the manager, Rhonda, via another review. She basically attacked me. Offered only excuses for her poor management of the place. My family stayed here many years ago when it was under different managment and had a fabulous time. We will not return and would not suggest anyone else does either. It may be good for an over night stay to rest on a road trip but thats all. The only reason I gave it two stars was because we did have fun. no thanks to the hotel.
