“would never stay here again”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 February 2010

not only was the room absolutely rank smelling.. the carpets were dirty, broken beads on the floor and blood and hair on the beds. also, no word of a lie, the room next door could be heard arguing through the walls about 'leaving money on the table'.... so you know what their clientel is.
we literally ended up packing our things and going home a day early rather than sleep in that kind of filth.

"I recently received a copy of your review of the Extended Stay America Pittsburgh - Carnegie. Our company prides itself on providing great service and great rooms at great rates, which is why I was so disappointed to read your post. Please accept my most sincere apologies.

We know that our guests have multiple hotel choices, which is why our mission is to provide clean, comfortable rooms at an affordable price that guests want to come back to. The room condition you describe is totally unacceptable to me and not at all representative of our quality standards. In response to your post, I have met with our hotel staff and used your review to help coach them on room cleaning and inspection policy.

It's not common that we get the sort of feedback you provided, and although it is discouraging to read, it will help us make our hotel even better in the future. Let me apologize again that your stay was not completely satisfying, and assure you that we will continue to listen to our guests in forums like this one or directly (please visit our website and click the Contact Us link at the bottom of the page). I hope we have addressed your concern satisfactorily, and that you would give us the pleasure of having you as a guest again at this hotel or any other Extended Stay Hotels(sm) brand location in the future."

“its a bad deal”

the hotel was clean but no amenities to speak of. I went there with my friends and since I knew people in the area so they came to visit. there were people a few rooms down from us that had the hall way smelling like "weed" it was strongest by thier room and you could smell it a few feet from that room. I had decided to ignore that smell and stay over. I paid for the room and the maintanence guy asked me several times if everything was ok in my room. I told him everything was fine. it wasn't more than an hour after I paid for the room that the police were called for "traffic" and the "weed" smell. we were searched, sniffed by the police dog and the room was searched with the police dog. they found nothing. the room didn't even smell like "weed" when they came in. but management insisted we leave. so if you have friends and stay there DO NOT HAVE THEM COME OVER. if another guest is using an illegal substance and the smell is in the hall way, CHECK OUT IMMEDIATELY. that was the worst experience I have ever had at a hotel. I personally believe they pocketed my money. they knew they were going to do that before they even accepted my money. I know this because of the way I was grilled about everything in my room being ok. they didn't do that to other guests.

“Cheap, but you get what you pay for.”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 August 2009

This hotel is fully no frills. Everything is completely mediocre, but that fact is reflected in the price. I can't say anything was particularly wrong with this place, and I didn't need much but a place to sleep at night; however, even at the discount price there were still some things that were lacking. Internet service was not free as it is in most discount hotels. The hotel also offers no room cleaning service unless you pay extra for it. If you're looking for a purely functional place to stay that's cheap, this may be an okay choice for you.

"Thank you for taking the time to make us aware of your experience at Extended Stay America Pittsburgh - Carnegie. I know how committed we are to satisfying our guests. Given this commitment, it was with great concern that I read the rest of your account. You have my most sincere apologies that your stay wasn't totally enjoyable.

It is my pleasure to provide you with an explanation regarding your concern about our amenities. Our company is known for providing great rooms at great rates, without some of the fluff that you find at other hotels. Items like ""complimentary"" shampoos and conditioners are not really complimentary; you do wind up paying for it in the nightly rate. Although we don't place extra amenities into a guest room prior to check-in, we do have a limited supply of sundries available upon request at the front desk. We operate this way because it lets us continue to provide our guests with quality accommodations at an exceptional price. I do regret that we were not able to communicate to you exactly what you could expect before you arrived.

Let me assure you that your experience is certainly not typical, and that we have put in place measures to ensure that the type of stay you had won't be repeated. Again, I apologize and promise you that we are committed to your total satisfaction. If there is anything you would like to discuss further with me or our guest relations team, please don't hesitate to contact us by visiting our website and clicking on the Contact Us link at the bottom of the page. I do hope you will give us the honor of having you as a guest again if future travels will bring you into our area."

“Don't Stay Here if you like Quiet”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 August 2009

Stayed here over the weekend while my floors were being refinished. I got it on price line for 32.00 or something, definitely would not pay their full rate, it's not worth it. The place is very basic, it didn't have a comfortable welcome feel to it. There are no amenities, so bring soap and shampoo. Actually there is a small bar of cheap soap, still bring your own.

The walls are paper thin, I heard fighting and sex (not from the same room) all night, finally fell asleep around 3am. Didn't stay the next night, went to my mom's.

The staff is really nice though. It's in a weird location, but OK. You have to pay for internet too, $5 or something, so I got no work done either.

Overall won't stay at an Extended Stay hotel again and will never pick a 2 star on priceline again.

"Thank you for taking the time to review your recent stay at Extended Stay America Pittsburgh - Carnegie. Given our company's commitment to superior guest service, it was great to read about your positive experience with our staff. Of course, I was disheartened to read that your stay wasn't 100% satisfactory. You certainly have my sincerest apologies

I am eager to respond to your concerns regarding our hotel amenities. It is our mission to provide a clean, comfortable room at a great rate for business and leisure travelers. To that end, we don't put items like shampoo bottles, shower caps, or face lotions within a room prior to a guest's arrival. That's because although these things are perceived as being ""free"" at other hotels, you still end up paying for them in your nightly rate. However, given our commitment to your satisfaction, we do have a limited supply of complimentary sundries available upon request at the front desk. Doing business this way allows us to continue to offer great rooms at exceptional rates. I am truly sorry that we were unable to communicate our offering effectively to you before you arrived.

Although it is unusual for a guest to have the experience you did while staying with us, we would like to use your account to help us make our hotel even better. Again, I am deeply sorry that you did not have a completely enjoyable stay at our hotel, and I promise that we are focused on total guest satisfaction every day. Please don't hesitate to reach out to me at this hotel or to our guest relations team directly by visiting our website and clicking the Contact Us link at the bottom of the page.

“Pleasant Stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 January 2008

I spent five nights at the Extended Stay in Carnegie and was pleased overall with the experience.

The staff was friendly and courteous and the room was neat and very clean. The small kitchenette area met my needs and the bed was fairly comfortable.

The only two drawbacks I found were the room size and hotel accessibility. The size of the room was smaller than I had expected. Also, the hotel is a bit difficult to locate since it is only accessible from one direction on the highway as another reviewer stated.
