This was my 4th visit to Comfort Suites in Carlisle. I overlooked a few things the first few stays, but this time was a little more problematic. Stay 4/5 thru 4/8.
First - the postiives - the location is good and as others state, within walking distance to unique eateries. However, finding the drive to check-in is very awkward and pain to check in. Parking is in garage out back.
That said, my issues this time began with noticing just how annoyingly cheap the fixtures in this place are. It has an "older" style for the area that is appropriate, but that does not mean they need to keep the same cheap faucets. I had a very difficult time adjusting the single arm sink faucet to get hot or cold. The first room (405) faucet was hardly workable and the sink was slow to drain. The next morning, I reported the issue and advised them to reserve me a different room that I would switch to at the end of the day. The staff were helpful and as expected, they had room 403 ready for me to move in to for the 2nd night.
I got into that room (and like the first) the heater had been blasting in the room and it was probably 75 in there. I immediately turned it over to A/C. It blew for 2 mins then stopped - completely. Called the front desk guy up (maintenance was gone for the day) and he promptly came, pushed a few buttons saying not to adjust down too much at one time and got the thing going again. It ran for maybe 5 mins.
The next morning (day 3) I told them to please have maintenance look at it. They came while I was working and left a nice, but completely unhelpful note saying to try to adjust the controls and temp to my needs. Duh, I had tried this already.
The issue with A/C was the kicker. to get the a/c to run, I had to change the mode from a/c to fan to heat and then back to A/C to get it to blow out cool air for 5-10 mins before it stopped again. So, it could not maintain a temp for A/C since the fan stopped itself so quickly.
Mind you the staff tried, but they can't fix old stuff.
Other thoughts are that they spent money on a flat screen tv in the fitness room but the 1 treadmill is GROSS. They need to invest in something new there. Also a remodel of the bathrooms in the "business" center is in order.
I had breakfast there each day for convenience, nothing fancy. I agree that the breakfast staff look sort of "dirty" and unhappy and it concerns me they handle the food. The trash cans are annoying to insert garbage.
I realize this sounds like a lot of complaining. I travel frequently and know you have to just put up with some stuff. However, I can no longer take the chance on staying here again.
