The room prices are quite reasonable, compared to other Pocono resorts, but there's a reason for that. While the room was neat & clean, the grounds are rundown, and one gets the feeling that the surrounding woods are slowly reclaiming the hotel property. There's a little mini-golf course that's gone back to nature, and a playground set that hasn't felt the touch of a child's hand for years. There are the remnants of a fenced in enclosure where deer used to be kept - there's a still a mailbox with the name "Rudolph" on it!
When we stay, which is always around Valentine's Day, the restaurant, bar, and pool are all closed. Not too many other visitors there gives the place a semi-abandoned feeling. It seems like the story of the Poconos is pretty well expressed in this place - it's seen better days. For us, this is a place to spend the night, use the Jacuzzi, and head out for dinner and fun stuff elsewhere - this is our base camp, and not much more!
The owners are perfectly nice and helpful, and waived the $10 fireplace fee when we were there last.
