“excellent location, cheapest rates, and good food at the bar”

we stayed here for an extended period of time before buying a house in brookville, and we got an awesome rate! the staff is really friendly, the rooms were clean. the place needs a little sprucing up but not too much. you get movie channels in the rooms, hot water, clean towels and sheets, plus there's a pool and wi-fi. i would recommend this hotel before any of the others around here for the price. its a cheap deal plus free breakfasts and the food at the bar is good too. plus the location is great for my husband. i'd stay here again.

“Disgusting!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 July 2010

The service was horrendous. The room was a mess. Feces smeared on toilet paper and wall. It is advertised on line that there is a fitness room. False advertisement....there isn't one and that is the one reason why I had picked this hotel. I had pre ordered my room on line the previous week so I was unable to get a refund when I wanted to switch hotels. So DO NOT reserve your room ahead of time unless you have seen the inside of this place and have dealt with the staff. I guarantee you will not want to stay there.

“Don't bother.”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 May 2009

It was a disaster from the beginning. The clerk didn't seem to know what city she was in -- or what planet. After an argument with the previous guest who was trying to check-in, we asked about places to eat in the town. The clerk said nothing was open. Wrong answer.

This is rural Pennsylvania but exterior doors ought be locked at night. Fire doors were propped open, exterior doors were open, the noise from other rooms was easily heard.

And the continental breakfast. . . .it wasn't even worth showing up for.

“pretty basic”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 August 2008

This is a large shabby (60s vintage with little updating) place right off the highway. Some of the wings look completely unused, elevator is broken and it is not for anyone who wants an immaculate modern hotel. We booked it simply as the cheapest place to crash one night on a long road trip and it served reasonably for that purpose. Outdoor pool, although large, was ice cold even in August and my six year old who will swim in anything only survived about 15 minutes. Strictly a no frills place with lots of trucks, but if I were only going to stay for one night and really wanted a cheap bare bones place, I might consider it again. Continental breakfast was minimal (two choices of cereal, bananas, bagels, coffee (orange juice was out of order) and the only staff person I ever saw was a woman outside smoking who came in to check me in.

“ehhhhh”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 February 2008

We stayed here 2 nights, first night would have given this place 0 stars, but i upped it to two after the second night.

Arrived around 1:30 in the morning exhausted, the check in guy could not be any slower if he tried. He looked so confused about my check in. He kept asking me for my mastercard when I don't even own one, but I have a visa - i later found out that this is because travelocity pays for the hotel and i pay travelocity...but this guy didn't know this. So i give him my credit card, and he leaves it on the counter.

After 15 minutes of checking in, i'm upstairs, and realize he never gave me my card back. I go downstairs, see the card laying there on the counter, and say, "this is my card" the guy says "oh i didn't even realize it was there"...great....

So we go to bed because we're getting up early to drive to punxsutawney for groundhog's day. Both my bed and the other bed have the pillows and sheets completely covered in tiny dark curly hairs. I am not kidding. I don't get shkeived out too easily. I'm only paying $60 a night so i'm not expecting the plaza..but this really grossed me out. Of course my mind wandered as to what those little tiny black hairs were. Too tired to complain we cleaned off the bed and fell asleep feeling all itchy.

Went to Punxsutawney for groundhog's day which was hysterical. The hotel was pretty close to the area without being in the town, since its impossible to book a room in town.

We came back that evening to find the bed cleaned..for real. No hairs at all...believe me we inspected. So i'm hoping it was just a fluke that first night for their sake. We ate dinner at Plyers country restaurant which is literally down the hill from the hotel. Its really good. I had the buffet and was not disappointed. The next morning we woke up early and had our free continental breakfast. This was one of the better spreads I've seen for continental. They even have a waffle maker! Very nice touch.

Check out took about 5 minutes because of the card issue again. They kept asking me for my mastercard. However this girl was smarter then the check in guy, she figured out the whole travelocity thing.

Thats it - so if the place was clean the first night, and the check in guy wasn't such a complete moron I'd give it a better rating. I'd say your gambling with what you're going to get. But it is cheap!

  • Liked — it was cheap, it was close to punxsutawney
  • Disliked — it was disgusting the first night. check in guy really slow
