“pretty basic”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 August 2008

This is a large shabby (60s vintage with little updating) place right off the highway. Some of the wings look completely unused, elevator is broken and it is not for anyone who wants an immaculate modern hotel. We booked it simply as the cheapest place to crash one night on a long road trip and it served reasonably for that purpose. Outdoor pool, although large, was ice cold even in August and my six year old who will swim in anything only survived about 15 minutes. Strictly a no frills place with lots of trucks, but if I were only going to stay for one night and really wanted a cheap bare bones place, I might consider it again. Continental breakfast was minimal (two choices of cereal, bananas, bagels, coffee (orange juice was out of order) and the only staff person I ever saw was a woman outside smoking who came in to check me in.

“ehhhhh”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 February 2008

We stayed here 2 nights, first night would have given this place 0 stars, but i upped it to two after the second night.

Arrived around 1:30 in the morning exhausted, the check in guy could not be any slower if he tried. He looked so confused about my check in. He kept asking me for my mastercard when I don't even own one, but I have a visa - i later found out that this is because travelocity pays for the hotel and i pay travelocity...but this guy didn't know this. So i give him my credit card, and he leaves it on the counter.

After 15 minutes of checking in, i'm upstairs, and realize he never gave me my card back. I go downstairs, see the card laying there on the counter, and say, "this is my card" the guy says "oh i didn't even realize it was there"...great....

So we go to bed because we're getting up early to drive to punxsutawney for groundhog's day. Both my bed and the other bed have the pillows and sheets completely covered in tiny dark curly hairs. I am not kidding. I don't get shkeived out too easily. I'm only paying $60 a night so i'm not expecting the plaza..but this really grossed me out. Of course my mind wandered as to what those little tiny black hairs were. Too tired to complain we cleaned off the bed and fell asleep feeling all itchy.

Went to Punxsutawney for groundhog's day which was hysterical. The hotel was pretty close to the area without being in the town, since its impossible to book a room in town.

We came back that evening to find the bed cleaned..for real. No hairs at all...believe me we inspected. So i'm hoping it was just a fluke that first night for their sake. We ate dinner at Plyers country restaurant which is literally down the hill from the hotel. Its really good. I had the buffet and was not disappointed. The next morning we woke up early and had our free continental breakfast. This was one of the better spreads I've seen for continental. They even have a waffle maker! Very nice touch.

Check out took about 5 minutes because of the card issue again. They kept asking me for my mastercard. However this girl was smarter then the check in guy, she figured out the whole travelocity thing.

Thats it - so if the place was clean the first night, and the check in guy wasn't such a complete moron I'd give it a better rating. I'd say your gambling with what you're going to get. But it is cheap!

  • Liked — it was cheap, it was close to punxsutawney
  • Disliked — it was disgusting the first night. check in guy really slow

“Mixed bag with surprises”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 December 2007

We stop here every year when traveling and will be going again tomorrow (Dec. 07). No, it's nothing special - but it's basic, a bed, relatively decent and the staff is always friendly.
The best part though was discovering the town of Brookville last year - it's a beautiful town that is especially wonderful at Christmas. There's also plenty of places to get something to eat nearby. It's a pretty low-stress stopover. Only wish they had wireless.

“Worth a miss”

Driving north-south thru Pennsylvania we booked a night's stop at Day's Inn Brookville. What a mistake - this was No.2 worse motel we stopped at on our last visit to USA, October 2004. (No.1 was also a Day's Inn, Roanoke VA). Huge place on top of hill - external doors not locked, corridors dirty, room almost clean (cleaners don't bother cleaning under the beds or behind furniture) - fortunately the linen was fresh and clean otherwise we would have moved on.
A unpleasant neglected motel. An added attraction is having the unfortunate local drug users hanging about the upper building - and, using the corridors. Nothing like a discarded used syringe in the outside your door to cheer you up in the morning!

“Major false advertisement”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 March 2004

We booked a room at this hotel thinking there were lots of amenities to make our stay more pleasant. What we found when we got there was nothing like it was advertised.
Out of couriosity we checked other sites booking rooms for this hotel and found not one of them, including the official days inn site, had the correct & true facts as to what is & what is not available.
Lodging is sparse in this area so choices are limited. We made a list
of the services offered on the site we used as well as other booking
sites so people will know the truth & can avoid this place and the
dissappointments it has to offer.
1. no car rental desk or car rental of any kind
2. no spa or sauna
3. no babysitting or child services
4. no indoor pool - outdoor unheated only
5. no on premises golf course or tennis courts
6. no inhouse dining so obviously no room service
7. no free local calls
8. no business center
9. no dry cleaning sevices
10. no game room - a few games & pool tables in the bar available only
during late bar hours
11. no fitness center - unless you count using the stairs because the
elevator was out of order
12. the pictures on the sites did not include the wallpaper coming down
with mildew behind it or the water spots on the ceiling as our room had
13. our entry way into the hotel included a trash pile our entire stay
14. only one opperable vending area in this, a bigger hotel
15. the corridors don't appear to be heated as we could see our breath
in the morning, our room was the same after check-in until the heater
finally got it to temperature a couple of hours later
16. in room, unstocked , refrigerators are not available to use without
paying a fee to have them unlocked
17. housekeeping was a joke, beds made with the same sheets, new towels
& that was pretty much it. The dust that was evident when we checked in
remained there through-out or visit. The bathroom mirrors were left
spattered and the tub was pretty much gray instead of white.
18. the entire place seemed to smell of mildew
All in all we were not happy with this hotel at all and would advise others not to bother staying at this place.
