“Beware of the bill!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 February 2012

This hotel was reasonably clean and quiet. I checked in under a rate of $83/night, but the hotel clerk gave me the check in paperwork which stated that my rate was $103/night. After I pointed the difference out to her, she proceeded to state that she charged me extra so that I would have access to the continental breakfast...consisting of stale cornflakes and sour milk. I cannot believe that a hotel would increase the rate without discussing it first. There has got to be a law against that type of thing.

Also, if you are looking for a drink in their Sam Adams bar, the beer is good but the bartender is horrendous. He poured a beer that had 2 inches of head on it and when I pointed his poor beer pouring skills out to him, he added another 1/8 of an ounce and slammed it on the bar. It was actually pretty funny and absurd all at the same time.

Thank you for your feedback. I will look into the charge for continental without your approval first, as that is not our policy to do. Also thank you for sharing your experience in the bar; that will certainly be addressed. We do hope that you visit again to see that these issues are not the norm and so you can receive the experience that you, and all our guests, deserve.

“Ghetto with Thin Walls”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 January 2012

I booked a room here because it seemed like a nice hotel online. My room was not ready when I checked in. The personnel at the front desk needed to have housekeeping check to make sure the room was clean before providing a key (I was checking in after 8pm on a weekday.. arent they suppose to be ready by 3pm?)

The walls are so thin that I could hear every word the guy was saying in his phone conversation in his room. To make it worse, every time he turned on his water or flushed the toilet, you could hear it. I could hear him clearing his throat constantly.

After calling the front desk to complain about the noise, I was told that they were nearly sold out and that there are no other rooms available that would provide a quieter environment.

So now it's nearly midnight and I'm ready for bed but the guy next to me sounds like he is going to be up for hours. Heres to spending WAY too much money for a room like this. I will have to sleep with my headphones in and listen to my iPhone just to tune this dude out.

Definitely wont stay here again.

“Enjoyed our stay.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 January 2012

We stayed here one night on our way to Florida with our pet.

We stayed on the 3rd floor, which is considered the executive floor and it included an evening snack and morning continental breakfast. The evening snack was sandwiches which would have been fine for a light meal. We had already had dinner so we saved them for lunch on the road the next day...they were very good.

The breakfast was a typical selection that you would find at any hotel. Fine for us in the morning.

The staff is great! Very friendly and were genuine in making sure we enjoyed our stay. Jennifer (I believe I got the name right) was especially nice and helpful. We had one problem, there were no bath towels in our room. They sent someone up right away with more towels then we could use. Not a big deal to us.

We appreciated that pets were allowed and the hotel was very quiet during our stay. No complaints.

Someone mentioned black grout as a complaint in an earlier review. That's the color of the grout...it's black, it's a design choice not a cleaning problem.

We'll stay again when we're in the area.

“Nice Lobby but for the Rest?”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 November 2011

This is a very busy hotel. During the 10 days I stayed here, the Marine Corps Ball, wedding receptions, auctions, etc etc all took place and I may have missed a few. With that said, you're greeted with a very nice lobby and a very friendly staff. As a Priority Club Platinum member I was given a room on the 3rd floor. I thought this was an upgrade, but my "upgrade" turned out to be just a standard room. No big deal as 3rd floor guests have access to a small continental breakfast each morning and snacks in the evenings, but the rooms could use some updating.

I had a problem with fruit flies during my stay. The staff came to my room and sprayed, but the pesky little guys just would not die. I also saw a few in the breakfast area. This is the first hotel I've ever stayed in where I had to buy a candle to get rid of the old musty smell in the room. My co-workers rooms were pretty much the same as mine. The bathtub/shower had some issues with the grout on the walls peeling off and the bathtub didn't drain like it should, so after showering I was standing in two feet of water.

I would hope such a busy place like this could update the rooms. They were putting up some new wallpaper in the stairwell wall areas. As others have said, a one or two nighter would be ok, but I wouldn't recommend this hotel for anything longer. The internet isn't the best. Time of day or night didn't remedy speed issues either. Not a show stopper, but something to consider. The beds are fantastic though...very nice after a long days work. For longer stays I'd suggest the Hilton Garden Inn just down the road.

“Not as bad as reviews make out”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 November 2011

I stayed here last week for 3 nights on business. I thought the room was very nice although I was on the ground floor (I think disabled room). However, the bathroom was a bit grubby looking. All the grouting was black.

I had a voucher for breakfast and I was also pleasantly surprised. Pleasant enough waitress brought me tea as I don't drink coffee and the hot food looked nice and fresh and there seemed to be something for everyone.

I didn't spend much time overall in the room or hotel as I was taken out every evening and check in and check out went smoothly/quickly.

All in all, would stay here if I need to travel to the area again.
