I have been returning to Oregon House each summer for seventeen years. There is no place quite like it. Situated on a high cliff among towering conifers, it provides a view of the ocean's limitless horizon, with a path leading down to a beach full of fabulous beach combing opportunities. Once a private estate, each of the units is different. All provide kitchens. Some have a fireplace. It's wise to stock up on kitchen basics before arriving, as the nearest restaurants are in Yachats, a charming village eight miles north of the property that also has several unique shops. We usually have breakfast in the room before going down to the beach to look for treasures (agates are often found at low tide). Sometimes we pack a picnic lunch and venture out to Cape Perpetua or some of the hiking trails that abound. But most of the time we just stay close to "home" with a good book to breathe in the fresh sea air and listen to the rustling pines.
