“Trying but still not there”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

Although it has had a recent facelift once you get inside you can see this is a very old property. Rooms have new carpet and beds but still a 24" tube TV and a clunky old AC unit. Bar/Lounge is still circa 1970 and the food is nothing to be desired. Fitness center is old, weak and in the middle of the lobby with glass walls for all to watch?

Thank you for your comments. I am sorry to hear that your recent stay did not meet your expectations. We appreciate the feedback we receive and the opportunity to improve on our services and amenities.

We agree that the old 27” tube televisions clashed with our new updated look. I’m happy to tell you that in the past two weeks we have installed all our guestrooms with 37” HD Flat Screen televisions. We are sure this will enhance our guest’s experiences.

Again, thank you for making the effort to share your thoughts. We value you as a guest, and we hope to see you again soon.

“Nice stay, but really cold elevator!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 December 2011

My family stayed here for three nights while we visited friends in Portland. We enjoyed a convenient location, a nice room, and the swimming pool and hot tub. My main complaint would be the very cold elevator shaft and hallway that we had to take to get to our room. It is very drafty and needs a little heat pumped to it. Though it rained for most of our stay, this is the hotel where we had our reception and stayed on our wedding night! Nice to be back.

“Upgraded Holiday Inn exceeded expectations”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 November 2011

In my opinion the Holiday Inn (HI) brand has seen a general decline since it heyday as one of the first national brands that offered consistent, if not luxury, accomodations. Recent years have seen many properties suffer wear and tear and deferred maintenance that has made them less than desirable places to stop - even just for the night while on the road.

This property is different. Have stayed here four times.

Pros:

1) The rooms and common areas have all been upgraded and the furnishings are very nice, exceeding what I would expect at an HI. Remodeled baths with nice personal accessories, Comfortable mattresses, new bedding and pillows, flat panel TV, mini-fridge and a nice sense of color and design. I travel quite a bit and found the rooms to be more like a Mariott or Hilton property than an HI.
2) Fast, free wifi.
3) Lobby areas are small but very clean and comfortable with new furniture that is actually user friendly. I've spent a few hours sitting on the sofas or chair doing work.
4) Staff is accomodating and friendly. No problem with late check-outs
5) At the rates we have booked we have received two free drink coupons and two free breakfast coupons (this may not be the case with all rates.)
6) Didn't use the pool or spa but checked them out and they were very clean and decent sized for the property.
7) The management seems extremely concerned that you enjoy you stay and requests a lot of feedback after the visit.

Cons:

1) The restaurant on site is rather run of the mill. Breakfast is fine for the price, but nothing special. Sometimes understaffed.
2) Didn't use the meeting rooms or other parts of the hotel but they appear to have received less updating than the rooms.
3) Sevice in the bar is excruciatingly slow, or nonexistent. Often there is no one even around for long periods of time to take your order or follow up.

Summary: A fine spot for an overnight stop along I-5 or a day or two business meeting.

Thank you for your review. InterContinental Hotels have been focused on improving the Holiday Inn brand recognition over the past several years. We are happy that the hotel exceeded your expectations of the Holiday Inn brand. I think you will find that Holiday Inn Full Service Hotels everywhere are being held to a higher standard.

We appreciate your comments about the restaurant and we plan to update that area of the hotel as soon as possible. We have also addressed the service issues you had in the lounge and will make sure to focus on the attentiveness of our staff. We welcome you as our guests and look forward to you staying with us again

“Just ok”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 November 2011

Based on the other reviews I thought we were in for a treat but found the hotel to be just ok. I was traveling on business and thought it would be nice to take my family along (kids homeschool) so I booked a 2 bed room. I paid extra for the executive room which I found out gets everyone a free breakfast but the rooms are the same as all the others. Except the TV which was substandard. The TV was an old school 25 inch and very poor quality. When I asked why such a bad TV on the so called executive floor they told me they were the only ones that you could get pay per view movies on (which we don't care). The rooms are dimly lit which we didn't care much for. We were shorted breakfast coupons but they made it right without any hassle. The room was clean and a choice of different pillows was nice. The wait staff in the restaurant was excellent although the dinner menu is weak. Over all just an average experience for 108.00 a night. I know that doesn't sound like much but in Wilsonville it's top dollar.

Room Tip: get the second floor they have the new flat screen TVs

Thank you for your comments. We pride ourselves on providing excellent service. I am sorry to hear that your room did not meet your expectations.

We have purchases 37” HD Flat Screen TV for all guest rooms, we plan to install the new TV’s by the end of the year. As of right now we have rooms with flat screens and some with out. If you are back in the area before next year please contact the hotel directly so we can be sure to place you in a room that meets all your needs. The most appealing amenity that is offered with executive floor is full hot breakfast buffet and the drink coupons for two. We hope you will come back and enjoy the hotel in the near future.

Again, thank you for making the effort to share your thoughts. We value you as a guest, and we do want you to know that your concerns are our concerns.

“A wonderful and delightful experience!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 November 2011

I wanted to leave a tip for those traveling and staying in the Portland area, if it'a available book the breakfast deal and stay at this hotel. I booked this deal and I'm so happy I did, the breakfast was so good and my kids had plenty to eat. I also had dinner in their restaurant as well and the pasta is made fresh in house, wow amazing! The room was extremely comfortable and so were the beds. The entire hotel looks like it was just renovated, not the old style Holiday Inn's I remember from the 70's with the holidome. To wrap this up, I would like to say thank you for the great service, excellent food, and the great entertainment in the bar!!!!
