We stayed at the Lodge in July 2011 ~ we booked one of the cheapest rooms - $180 a night for a small (very small) room with twin beds and a small bath ~ no TV (but we knew that in advance). However, the view from the window was spectacular ~ Mt. Hood. Just staying in the Lodge was a terrific experience ~ seeing the handcarved woodwork was worth it ~ all the handcrafted tiles, etc. The historic value of the Lodge is priceless. Is it worth $180? Well, it IS a rustic lodge, not commercialized at all ~ really a little refreshing ~ so I'd recommend staying overnight just to experience a piece of history.
We did eat supper at one of the bars ~ good sandwiches, great local beer and again, great views from your table ~ couldn't have been better.
