“Still great for Tillamook”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 November 2011

Tillamook is not a "Resort Destination" City... Tillamook isn't on the beach,no really scenic views. This would explain why Tillamook really doesn't have any really fancy hotels. We have been traveling to Tillamook long before most of these hotels including the Shilo were built, mainly because Tillamook isn't a Cannon Beach,Seaside or Newport type of "Tourist Trap". We enjoy shopping at the local businesses,we have bought vehicles from the Ford dealer in town because they are great and honest people to deal with. The Tillamook Shilo always treats us like we are Family when we stay! I totally agree that this hotel should be next on Shilo's list for a total remodel.... That aside, I reccomend this Hotel if you plan to stay in Tillamook, the folks that run this place do an excellent job! I can't say anything good about the recent change to the free breakfast. Cold cereal,a few rolls,a toaster and some bagels are not much for a "Continental Breakfast" these days. I hope this changes SOON! In the meantime, leave your breakfast coupons at the front desk and drive downtown and get your breakfast at The Pancake House! Very good food at a reasonable price there. We made this trip for the Thanksgiving Dinner at the Shilo Restaraunt. PERFECT!!!!!!! This place really outdoes itself for the Holiday buffets!!!!!!!!!! Mother's day brunch is something to put on your destination list! Tillamook always smells like cows. It smells like money and jobs to the locals:)

Room Tip: I can't say, because I don't want you in my room when I want it:)

“Just remember -totally agricultural and the cow smells to go with it!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 November 2011

We were having a wonderful vacation at the peak of tourist season when we pulled into Tillimook Shilo Inn. (We had just had a very ,very positive stay for several nights at the Shilo Inn in Portland by the airport.) About 2 miles from town we needed to close our windows due to the extreame smell of cow doo. It only got stronger when we reached Tillamook. The locals are so used to it they had the front doors of the hotel wide open!!! We were stunned. The rooms although less oderferous were older and not as nice as Portland. There were a few things we had wanted to do in Tillimook like a really cool Air Museum but the smell the next day was just as bad and we got out as soon as possible.Sorry Tillamook.

Room Tip: find out which way the wind is blowing

Dear Cynthia07,

Thank you for taking the time to let us know about your experience. You arrived on one of the days one of our local farmers was fertilizing their fields. Unfortunately that is an experience shared by all the motels in Tillamook. Fortunately it is not that frequent. It is unfortunate you were unable to enjoy the Air Museum as it is definitely worth a visit. I would hope if you are ever on the west coast again, you would give Tillamook another chance. It is a naturally beautiful area.

“Not to good”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 October 2011

We stayed here for 2 nights while fishing the bay. Best part was big parking lot for boat and pick-up.
The lady at front desk was very nice but the room was not good. The bed spread was ripped the bath room had dirt on the walls and the table in the room was falling a part. Not alot to pick from in this town but the owner is not putting his money in to up keep or cleaning.

Room Tip: If fishing stay in 150 area it is close to fish cleaning area. The fish room was cleaner then are ro...

Dear Sadbuttru,

Thank you for letting us know about your recent stay. I’m glad you were able to enjoy our amenities for the fishermen. I apologize that the room was not up to standards. We have spent the last month deep cleaning all the rooms in our main building and will continue into the building you stayed in. I trust future stays would be better for you.

“Just Okay”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 October 2011

The hotel is a dated (per the other reviews), but comfortable and clean. The pet fee is what blew us out of the water. It's over $27 with tax. We have a small dog, under 20 lbs. Most hotels are about $10 before tax. Breakfast was great.

Molly074,
Thank you for your review. I am glad you found your room clean and comfortable and had a chance to enjoy our complimentary breakfast. Unfortunately we have to charge a pet fee to cover all the extra cleaning necessary after a pet has been in the room. I’ll pass your concern as to the cost to our corporate offices. Again, thank you for your review.

“Awesome”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 October 2011

We found this Inn to be customer orientated. We could not fault the room, the outdoor landscaping and the extras provided [dinner coupon and breakfast provided and a fish cleaning area for those who do that stuff!!]
Decided to stay at another Shilo Inn on the Oregon coast as a result of this stay but we were very disappointed at that location.
