“Good place to stay with pets”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 September 2011

person found this review helpful

I was kind of upset when I walked into the lobby. It smelled like cigarette smoke and so did the hallways, but my room didn't smell at all. You can hear other guests talking or watching tv and there is significant noise from the freeway, but the sound of the AC drowns out everything else. (It's pretty noisy, but I was glad that it worked)
Be aware that Motel 6 allows pets, for free, and that there are numerous stains on the carpet. I believe everyone who stays there brings a pets with them, or so it seems. I heard dogs running and barking every day that I was there (7 days). This didn't bother me because I brought my cat with me and I was grateful for Motel 6's pet policy.
I called several hotels that said they allowed pets only to find out that they didn't allow cats.
Some of the staff come across as rude but they are very accommodating, all you have to do is ask.
(The "very good" rating is adjusted for a lower star rated hotel, as it is not fair to compare it to the normal 3.5-4 star hotels I usually stay at.)

“Nicest People”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 July 2011

Farrah helped my friend and I out so much! We checked in aross the street at Tigard East (a seperate location) and had no AC on a hot July day. We got excuses about it at first, then we got the truth. We got refunded and came across the street and got treated to a bigger, better room with AC and for less.
For shame on Tigard East! And thank God for nice people like Farrah!

“Sometimes it doesn't pay to save a few dollars.”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 May 2011

My husband and I are traveling on business. We went to Portland, and to be more economical, stayed at Motel 6 Tigard West. My request online had been for a quiet room and when we checked in, found ourselves standing at a door directly across from the vending machines and ice machine. We asked for another room and, for $6.00 more, were given the "executive room" that was a little bigger and had a microwave and refrigerator. It was, at least, somewhat quiet. You could hear voices or the TV in the next room. As we got into bed around 10 p.m., I noticed the corner of the sheet on my side had been torn so it would lay flat. It could/would not go around the corner of the mattress and stay put. The mattress pad was for, at most, a queen size bed and the blanket for maybe a full size bed. It was too late and we were too tired to call the front desk to change the sheets, so we went to sleep. I found myself getting somewhat wrapped up in the sheets on my side and not much blanket. The hallway smelled like smoke and the hall carpets were dirty. I mentioned the problem with the bedding to the gal when we checked out and she apologized saying they had received a shipment of sheets that were "too short", so maybe that was the problem and she would mention it to the manager. I did take a survey I received in my email and received a very nice reply within the hour apologizing for what had occurred during our stay. She said she wished we had said something while we were there so she could have taken care of the problems and offered us a certificate for a free stay there or any other Motel 6. I'm not sure what could have been done to correct these things while we were there. I cancelled our Motel 6 reservations at other locations we had planned to stay at during our three week travels. For a few dollars more, we have stayed at other motels with a few more ammenties, like a coffee pot in the room for hot water first thing in the morning.

“AWFUL!!!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 August 2010

This former Red Roof Inn had paint peeling and dry rot on the exterior. The stairwell carpets were threadbare in places. The halls, stairwells and our room STANK from an acrid, stale perfume, probably designed to cover pet and smoking odors. The blankets on the beds looked dirty and very old. The A/C unit made much noise. Pet dogs could be heard barking from the room next door and down the hall. We made a reservation for two nights and couldn't wait to leave after one night. We'll never go back. AWFUL!!!

“Outstanding value, very good rooms”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 August 2010

I'm not a fan of the Motel 6 chain generally after several less than good experiences. This one is the exception. I've stayed several times and the rooms continue to improve. Most recent stay was in a large, newly renovated room with better than average furniture, very comfortable bed, new bedspread. Everything was clean and fresh. Good TV, very quiet, small swimming pool looked fine.

It's still an economy motel with minimal amenities but I travel with my own toiletries and hairdryer anyway. I've stayed in far worse motels for more money. This is a find.
