“Relaxing and beautiful - Vacation Internationale Pines at Sunriver”

We stayed at the Pines in October just for a long weekend. We reserved a huge 2BR and had plenty of space for the 4 of us. In addition to the two beds, there was also a murphy bed in the living room area. The kitchen was spacious and well-stocked. The decor was rustic, but not old. There was also a gas fireplace in the living area. At the back of the unit, there was a huge deck and a view of the golf course & mountains.

The pool was clean and centrally located, but it was dark in the parking lot.

We enjoyed walking on the various trails at the resort, as well as hiking the plethora of trails nearby.

Overall, we love the Pines and will be back, but please increase the lighting in the parking lot!

“Nice stay at the Pines - Huge 2 Bedroom”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 February 2011

We stayed at the Pines, Sunriver Resort on February 5-6, 2011 after scoring a sweet deal on LivingSocial for a 2 bedroom, ground floor condo. I called ahead and confirmed our reservation with the staff before arriving, and had requested the ground floor unit. They mentioned they couldn't make any promises, but would attempt to honor my request. I'm so glad they did because we had 2 decks that stepped right out onto a grassy area, with the pool and clubhouse no more than 30 feet from our door (E-3). The staff was very friendly and accommodating the whole time - we ended up checking in 2 hours early.

About the unit: The 2 bedroom is HUGE! We had 2 doubles in one bedroom and a king in another. Each room came with it's own bathroom. The kitchen is adequate, but very tight. It has an oven, microwave, refrigerator, dishes, basic cooking supplies. It's kind of a tight fit for 2 cooks, but it works. The living room is spacious with a small flat panel, dining table, couch and chair. The decor is pretty basic but nice. I'm wondering why the couch is not a fold-out hide a bed?

The location of the Pines is pretty nice. In close proximity to the main clubhouse, main pool, and other amenities. Of course the bike paths of Sunriver are GREAT, as we rode our bikes the full two days. The Pines has a nice pool (that was closed) and hot jacuzzi (which was open), along with a large "Club House" with free ping pong and .75 cents a game pool, TV, and tables. In the basement are video games, a small workout room with old equipment, and a hot sauna (light burned out) There was a bathroom with a small shower too.

A couple of downsides: Parking is a premium. The whole area near the main lodge is a pretty strange layout, with small roads, parking lots, cars, tennis courts etc. Didn't have a very "outdoor" feel to it that a private home would have. The Kitty Hawk "cabins" are available, and they look like they face the water near the golf course

All in all, the Pines is a great place to stay in Sunriver because of it's central location to the Lodge, Mall, Pool, and more.

“We will be back. Cute place, peaceful, had everything we needed.”

We are owners through VI and this was our first time to Sun River, and at The Pines. We stayed in a 2 bedroom cabin. Th cabin had just been remodeled. It was really cute, decorated in a rustic theme. Would definitely recommend this place for a family vacation. The cabin is 1400 sq ft, very spacious. The Village is really close with shopping and cafe, we found this very accommodating.

“Looking forward to going back”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 August 2010

We just spent a week at The Pines and had a really enjoyable time. We were in unit D-6 which is a one bedroom extended, it had a lower level living room with murphy bed, a kitchen, and half bath. Then there was an upstairs loft where the master bed and bathroom was. The kitchen was nicely appointed with everything you could need and the living room was spacious enough that four people were comfortable. The murphy bed was on the firm side but at least it was a real bed and not a sheet of springs wrapped in foam. The spiral staircase was very tight but fun to climb. The loft was adequate enough. There was no room for lounging except for on the bed. However the master bath was nice and spacious and appeared to be recently refurbished. The stone tile and bubble tub was a nice touch.
Speaking of the master bed, it was a little firm but not uncomfortable. I bring a 2-inch foam mattress topper when I travel just in case and I decided to use it on this bed. I could have done without but the topper made it more comfortable for me.

My biggest pet peeve when staying in a hotel is room to room noise and outside noise. This room is actually very close to the pool and is in between two other units but I am happy to say that the room construction on these units is superior to most hotels I have ever stayed at. I've stayed at certain Marriott's where I could hear talking through the walls, not so with this place. Even with our relatives and their family of six staying right next to us and another large family staying on the other side of us we never once heard voices or slammed drawers or slammed anything, nor did we hear pool noise. It was a really nice experience. I would stay here again for this fact alone. The back door to this unit opens up to a balcony and is right over the 7th tee of the golf course. It was very nice.

There are three things about this place that kept me from giving it a 5 star rating.

1. There is no air conditioning in these units. There is a whole house air intake system that moves air around but it doesn't cool the air. I knew this ahead of time and brought a small room A/C unit that I set up in the back sliding door. It worked well at cooling the place down.

2. It's darn near impossible to get a cross breeze going to cool the units down, even at night when it's 40 or 50 degrees. This is because of the really peculiar window situation in the unit. As mentioned, there is the slider door off the balcony, the only other window in the place is a 2'x2' window that is in the back of the upstairs loft. One door on the lower back of the unit, one very small window on the upper front of the unit. It didn't cool off easily.

3. Regardless of unit type (unless you have a one story lower unit) is that there is multiple sky lights in the ceilings. There are no covers, shades, or curtains over the skylight so light starts pouring in at 5:30 am and by 6:30 the place is illuminated like a Christmas tree, this is not good for people who like to sleep in or for kids who wake up at the first crack of light. After the first night we covered up the skylights with black out blinds that we always travel with, and it really made a difference.

The bike rentals were nice, the clubhouse was nice, the pool was nice, and the tennis court was nice. We went to Lava Beds NM and had a nice day, we went golfing at the Old Back Nine (only $20) and enjoyed the course, and we went to the Living History Museum which can probably be skipped. I brought my bike and rode the bike paths around Sunriver and really enjoyed that. The nearby grocery store was small but adequate and Goody's ice-cream was really tasty. When we go back we'll look forward to doing some kayaking, fishing, and going to the observatory.

“Vacation Internationale condo at The Pines in Sunriver”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 August 2009

We stayed in a 2-bedroom condo at The Pines, G-6, in August. On the main floor were a living/dining area, kitchen, bedroom with queen-sized bed, and bathroom with tub/shower combination. Up a narrow spiral staircase was the master bedroom with queen-sized bed, and master bath, which was identical to the one downstairs, except the tub had jets. There were two TVs, one in the master bedroom, and one in the living area with a DVD player. The kitchen was typical of condos, and was clean, updated, and well-equipped. The living room had a leather sofa, coffee table and two end tables, wooden chair with cushions, stone gas fireplace, and a Murphy bed. The dining area (basically part of the living room) had a round table with 4 straight chairs, plus two arm chairs against the wall. There was plenty of seating, for sure.

The décor of the condo was “lodge” style, with some log-type furniture. It all tied together well, and was fitting for the location. It seemed to have been recently remodeled.

There was a nice balcony with wooden furnishings – 2 arm chairs and a little table to put your drink on. It overlooked a bike path and the golf course.

There was no air conditioning. The master bedroom upstairs only had one small window, but there was a ceiling fan. The master bedroom was like a loft, with a half-wall so you could look down on the living room. I suppose without that open upper half-wall it would get very stuffy upstairs. As it was, it was definitely warmer upstairs. The half wall allowed people upstairs to look down into the living room, but from the living room you could not see into the bedroom, so there was visual privacy, if not sound privacy.

The free wireless worked easily, once I called the front desk to get the password. I couldn't find the password printed anywhere in my check-in materials, or in the room.

The pool was of a decent size, and also had a large hot tub and plenty of padded lounge chairs. There were pool towels to check out at the office. You could also check out bicycles. Sunriver has something like 37 miles of paved bike/walking paths, so biking is a fun way to spend time there.
