We found a great rate over the internet and decided the Shilo was a reputable name, so why not. This is why not:
Where do I begin?...the parking lot was cracked and bumpy. Not a good first impression. The front desk staff were polite but morning shift and evening shift do not seem to communicate well. The TV in our room did not work. At all. My husband told the front desk in the morning as he left for the tournament and when we got back at 10:30pm no one had looked at it. In fact, they were surprised to hear about it. We were told many had taken the holiday weekend off so the typical maintenance was not there. 40 minutes later still no tv.
We told the desk the next day as we left and we were told if they could not fix it we could change rooms. Long story short, they offered us an upgraded room for our troubles. Nice room but it doesn't cut it in my book. 2 days with no tv....
That's not all though... the room was very small. All rooms are listed as non-smoking but the shower curtain smelled of smoke. Our room was cleaned but the waste baskets were missed and I am not so sure a thorough vacuum job was done either. Free breakfast? Yes, and we went next door because it was that "good"...not. The breakfast offered was not worth it.
Side entrance stairs are crooked and made me wonder if I was in jeopardy of the floor dropping out from under me. It is obviously slanted!
Walls are VERY thin as we experienced a 3am party group coming back from somewhere and it sounded as though they were in the room with us.
Paint job in the room was patchy and obvious through the dark maroon paint on the one wall.
On Sunday Wi-Fi was not accessible and we needed to find where we were supposed to be the next day. Very inconvenient.
Positives were: newer tiles in bathroom, cost effective for the wallet, hair dryer furnished, high shower heads for tall people, and easy access to highway. Suites had full kitchenette and bigger TVs that worked. Restaurant attached.
In an area that has MANY other hotels, if $ is not a factor I would look elsewhere. The friendly staff is not enough for me.
