We stayed at the Black Butte Ranch and loved it. Also loved Sisters, Smith Rock, and the McMennamin's in Bend.

IF you are looking for retro, Black Butte is the place. You don't have to go far to return to the 70's. Property is worn out, employees worn out, menu is old however prices are not the 70's. I was a guest in the 80's and I could guarantee that the furnishings or employees have not been updated. Arrogance is abundant in The Lodge Dining Room, do not understand that. Service was poor, food cold, wait staff busy smoking out side and all of this before I checked into the tired old room with a worn out bed.

Black Butte Ranch is an excellent resort close to both Sisters, OR and Bend, OR. There is golfing, tennis, swimming, horesback riding, hiking, biking and running. The are also many nearby places to go to take photos. The main restaurant had excellent food at reasonable prices. Our condo had a wonderful view, well equipped,and comfortable. Bend and Sisters were also great to visit and had many restauranrts, galleries, and attractions.

Black Butte Ranch is the most awesome resort in the Northwest! Summer time allows for world class golfing tennis, swimming in one of four pools, tennis, equestrian, hiking, biking and running. It is family oriented and with 16 miles of paved bike trails, is the perfect place for kids to ride all day long, safely. There are also day camps for kids, for parents who want some free time to hit the links, play tennis, grab a massage or facial, or hike up Black Butte. Fly fishing at the Metolius is 10 minutes away. Big Meadow views of seven mountains are some of the best in the world. Winters bring snow fun including miles of cross country trails, sledding, snow shoeing, and downhill skiing at Hoodoo just a 20 minute drive away. There are many nice rental homes at multiple price points to suit almost any budget. (Glaze Meadow 47 is centrally located rental house and perfect for two small families!) Sisters, a very quaint small down, is only ten minutes away, and Bend only 40 minutes. This is the ideal place to spend either a summer or winter vacation! We will come back every year!
