“Perfect location for a single night”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 January 2012

Positives
1) clean
2) friendly
3) recommended good restaurant -Mark V, and got 10% discount when showed room key.
4) shower head had changing settings and water stayed nice and hot.
5) location as close to freeway as possible without hearing it in the room.

Negatives
1) fan broken in room, had to use hair dryer to mirror.
2) blah free breakfast, not everything out when we got there at 6:15, open at 6. Powdered eggs, rolls, sausage and coffee ok. Expresso stand in next parking lot was good.
3) spider webs between ceiling and far side of the bed. Room many not get much use, room 220.
4) the hallway to room outside.
5) pillowcases mislabeled (firm and soft), more funny than anything.
6) temperature in room really cool, next time I would have taken the time to adjust but this was just a quick pass through.

I would stay here again, if it wasn't just a quick stop over I would have just changed rooms. I mentioned the fan and they put a work order to fix fan.

“Diamond in the Rough”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 December 2011

HIE Roseburg OR is an amazing place to stay wether you are on business or pleasure. There are interior and exterior corridors. The exterior corridors are a bit chilly in the winter, but I am sure it's refreshing in the summer. We stayed on the 4th floor which is all exterior, though chilly getting to our room,as it was winter, we found it refreshing that our heater was pre set in our room to a low temprature. This was a very thoughtful touch. The room was very clean and comfortable. Breakfast was very convienient as we rode the elevator down, got breakfast, and a couple complimentary newspapers, and headed back to our room to enjoy our breakfast on a very private patio overlooking the South Umpqua river. Very nice! The staff was very pleasant and informational. I would recommend this Hotel to anyone who is passing through this area. It really is a Diamond in the Rough. Thank You HIE!

Room Tip: 1st and 2nd floors are partially indoor corridoor.

“Ideal stopover on our way to Crater Lake”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 December 2011

We stopped here as a stop location between Newport to get to Crater Lake (unfortunately, the weather closed in and we could not get to the lake). As we choose this as a stop over we weren’t expecting anything too exceptional however, we were pleasantly surprised. The hotel was probably the best Holiday Inn Express that we have stayed in. The view from the hotel room was totally unexpected. The staff were helpful and happily gave ideas of were to go in town and the places to eat. The breakfast quality was slightly disappointing but was sufficient.

“Small room, overpriced”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 December 2011

My husband and I had stayed at two other Holiday Inn Express hotels on this trip. We felt that the company's hotels in Merced, CA and Grants Pass. OR were good value for the money and provided nicely furnished, comfortable rooms. This Holiday Inn Express in Roseburg, OR was a disappointment. The room was too small for it's two queen beds. When you added a small square dining table and two chairs and a small chest of drawers with the TV, there was barely room to store your luggage. In addition, although the outside temperature was in the 20's, the room heat had been turned completely off for some time. The room was freezing. We went out for an early dinner after turning on the heat rather than sit around in our coats waiting for the room to become habitable. The bathroom never did warm up sufficiently to allow us to take showers. The hallways are outdoors (unlike the other hotels we stayed in) which meant going down to breakfast prepared for winter weather. Breakfast was also a disappointment. The other hotels served scrambled eggs. This one served instead heavy cream sausage gravy over biscuits. Yoghurt, pancakes, and cereal were also available.

Room Tip: The housekeeper told me to stay in a room on the 1st or 2nd floor as they are warmer in winter.

“Much better than satisfactory.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 December 2011

We were a family of 3 adults and 2 kids 9 and 12. We booked the family suite which had a small kitchenette, 2 beds and a roll away bed. It was a clean large well appointed room for the money. The pool and hot tub were right outside our door which was a huge hit with the kids. The front desk staff was consistently friendly and helpful. We hadn't packed a few amenities but they didn't hesitate to help us out. The hot breakfast was great and had different items to choose from both mornings we stayed. In the lobby the fireplace was a toasty place to enjoy a hot cup of fresh coffee which was always available. There was always plenty of parking and access to the freeway was easy with a drive thru coffee shop just outside the parking lot. This hotel was great value for the money. It's not the cheapest in Roseburg but we were very happy with the hotel.
