When we arrived, it was late and we were tired. Our second floor room had a sliding door that opened toward the beach that we opened immediately. After unpacking, we showered and relaxed listening to the constant roar of the ocean. That night we never closed the door so we could sleep to the sounds of waves gently breaking on the beach. We never slept so well. In the morning we were serenaded by sea gulls out for their morning meal. We were totally rested and relaxed. The sliding door was never closed when we were in the room, even when a gentle rain came. There is plenty to see and do within a short drive of the resort, so we were never bored. Returning to the room each evening, we would read and listen to the songs of the sea. Probably the most relaxing vacation ever, if you exclude hiking the bottom of the Grand Canyon!

Like others have said; its all about location with this place. We were lucky enough to have a ground level room which opens up onto a small, shared back yard that is a few yards from the beach. The view is fantastic. There was also a huge picture window in our dining room that faced the sea. We spent a good chunk of time simply staring out that window (the heavy wind kept from sitting outside) and listening to the waves.
The kitchens have been remodeled and ours was very nice and modern and the beds were very cozy. However, our sofa was abysmal. I didnt know it was possible for something to be of such low quality. What was that material; nylon? It looked and felt like it belonged somewhere else, far away. Little things like the toilet paper holders and light switches being hung WAY crooked lent an 'el cheapo' feel to things that was unfortunate, but certainly were easy enough to overlook in light of all the positives. The only other negatives were that you have to pay for wireless internet ($10) and that you have to pay to use the dvd's/vhs tapes they have in the front office ($2)
Anyhow, this place is in no way 'party central', but if you want to get away from things and recharge your batteries in the best possible way then you will probably enjoy the Rockaway Beach Resort. Also, I found the ladies at the front desk to be helpful and easy to deal with.

We own 5 shares at this resort. Wonderful employees, upgrading Resort constantly! If you are looking for a CALM experience at a Resort, this is the ticket. If you are looking for excitement, look someplace else. This is the perfect place for families to bond and relax and enjoy some peace and quiet. The Rec room is stocked with Games and books, Pool Table, Stationary Bikes, comfy sofa's, and the best view of the Ocean you can imagine. Bring every type of clothing, It is OREGON and you will probably get RAIN. But don't worry You WON"T Melt, and you may just find your inner child here!

Arrived at 5pm for a week-long getaway. Checkin was at 4pm, but our room wasn't ready until after 6p. It was a disappointing start for our getaway. But then we got to our room and looked out....the view was fantastic. We were right on the beach. The sound of the waves lulled us to sleep each night. The unit was clean and very nicely appointed. Unfortunately, the fireplace was not in working order. We had only one problem after checkin and the maintenance man was there within 5 minutes to correct the problem. That was amazing!
