My first trip to Portland was to attend a series of workshops held in this hotel. We paid a reduced competitive rate to stay on site for our event. I searched other hotels in the area but I didn't see anything better for less and decided that staying where our event was held would end up to be the most convenient. I was not disappointed. We stayed in the "older section" but it was nicely decorated, clean, and offered plenty of amenities. Every encounter I had with front desk staff was friendly and efficient. There are a variety of restaurants in the area (and a zillion Starbucks) which allow one to eat quickly with plenty of choices; this was good for those of us attending the workshops with limited meal times. We ate lunch once in the cafe near the lobby and it was lovely: good food nicely presented. This section of the city is picturesque with lighted trees and beautiful old buildings so we enjoyed walking around. The facilities for our classes were adequate and the snacks and coffee provided were top notch. We took the train in from the airport which was easy and cheap. Overall, great experience!
