“great stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 February 2012

had a great stay at the doubletree last weekend from friday - saturday, booked 2 rooms thru price line and got one on the 9th floor and adjoining rooms to boot. Rooms are dated, no wifi in the room which sort of sucks since other hotels nearby like the courtyard has wifi. As I read the tripadvisor reviews, everyone is right, the staff is freaking great, A+, they are really nice, and I kept on bugging them for cookies..hmm those cookies! The location is great for shopaholics like me with lloyd center across the street and the trimet station a minute walk away

I have recommended this to friends, and next time I'm in Portland will book this instead, or..whatever priceline gives me ;)

Very nice ammenities...but sad there was no hot tub. And the pool is seasonal only. :o(

Dear Joyce C,

Thanks for taking the time to share your experience. We are working on having an indoor pool.....but we do have one of the few outdoor pools in the city....that is open from May-October.
We do not have a public hot tub, but we do have a wonderful therapy/ jacuzzi tub in 10 of our spacious suites.

Hope to see you next time, thanks again.

Steve

“VERY NICE HOTEL AT A GREAT LOCATION”

The hotel is very easy to get to via MAX rail from the airport and downtown and is in the free zone if you are going downtown from the hotel. The front desk girls are very nice and welcoming. As a Diamond member I received upgrades on both my stays but only after asking which is annoying as Hilton Honors now gives Diamonds upgrades including suites. After I stayed the first time on Jan 21 I cancelled my reservation downtown for 2 weeks later and re-booked it to the Doubletree. This is now my go to hotel in Portland as long as the prices are cheaper than comparable hotels downtown.

dear gbryan84,

Thanks for the glowing review of our property! I was disappointed to hear we didn't offer that Diamond HHonors upgrade without asking, it gives me a great follow up opportunity with our staff. I'm thrilled to hear we've earned your business, please let me know if I can do anything to make your stay more enjoyable next time you visit!

with THANKS,
Steve

“Could be better but still pretty good”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 February 2012

The entry was pretty easy, nice check-in, no hassle etc. and free cookies! Yay!

The few things I didn't like was the size how everything felt so cramp and dark in the room regardless of all the lights turned on. Also, there was no mini-fridge nor microwave, both of which we had to call in to reception and have them deliver. They were pretty nice about it so it was ok. However, with the already cramped room, they just dumped both the microwave and mini-fridge on the desks which annoyed me, rendering the desks useless. (The small round desk and the big desk)

As a smoker, I was a bit annoyed that I had to pay extra $20 a night for a room of the same size with an extended extremely minuscule balcony, so I told them nevermind and went down in the freezing cold open whenever I needed a smoke.

Also...for such a fancy hotel...I wish they had a bathtub in the room. =\

The location was perfect, nothing was broken, everything was clean, good customer service and aside from the above mentioned dismissible rants, it was overall a good peaceful stay (except for bumping into some bothersome drunks at the lobby)

Room Tip: Pack light, there's not much spare space around...and grab a lot of those free cookies.
