We haGd no idea from the photos or Internet information what a wonderful place the Georgian House would be for our 4 night stay in Portland. This B and B is the best maintained older home we have ever stayed in. Chock full antiques and memorabilia, with lovely gardens and outside garden seating (one room has a large private deck.). The proprietress, Willie, is the hostess with the mostess, prepares wonderful, hearty breakfasts and is a walking GPS. We needed directions to a lot of different places, and had a lousy map. Willie, a Portland native, was such a help. The rooms are spacious with plenty of space for your stuff, unlike other places we have stayed. Since only 2 of the 4 rooms do not have a private bath, we did not get a room with a bath, and it was if we had our own. We love to walk and found that public transportation, restaurants and shops were in easy walking distance, or a little further, for more of a stretch. The neighborhood is mature with every house different and well maintained. And finally,
the price was in our budget. We couldn't believe our good fortune!

We stayed at The Georgian Inn B & B in Portland for 3 nights in August. We were in town for a wedding.

The inn is just lovely, with a Victorian decorating theme and beautiful garden. The inn keeper, Willie, was very friendly and made us feel like we were visiting a friend. The inn is very clean and comfortable. We had the East Lake Room with shared bath across the hall. Our room also had a roof top patio which was very pleasant to sit on with a good book!

Willie was very helpful with directions to various places which really helped a lot.

The breakfast was a bit disappointing, but for the price we aren't complaining. I do think, however, that a second breakfast option should have been offered for vegetarians or others who don't eat eggs.. Perhaps some granola or yoghurt , or whole wheat toast. She did provide fresh fruit and juices, however. Would we stay there again, yes!

We stayed here at the end of August and beginning of September. We were in two separate rooms as we traveled elsewhere in between. Both rooms had a shared bath and 1/2. The rooms were wonderful, I slept great. The shared bath was with one other room in the hall and was never an issue, and was very nice. Bathrobes were provided. Breakfast was wonderful and he had a difficult time getting moving each morning as we so enjoyed our breakfast chats with Willie and the other guests. It is in a nice, safe residental neighborhood, easy to find. You could stay here without a car, but it is easier with a car. Some Portland neighborhoods have some sketchy characters, but not here. There are buses that run two blocks down. We had a car. It was close to get from here to drive to the Lite-Rail to go downtown which we did once, although we never had a problem parking anywhere in Portland. It was a short drive to just about any neighborhood, and easy to find our way back here.

We chose this place because we wanted to stay within Portland but not pay the nightly parking rate that so many downtown hotels charge. Georgian House is in the Irvington neighborhood, which is a beautiful, tree-lined area that you can't believe is so close to everything. The owner, Willie, is very knowledgeable about Oregon and is great for advice about getting the most out of your trip. The house is beautiful, with a nice garden out back. Feels like you're staying at a friend's house!
