“Only if you have to”

I hope to never have those experiences again. The first night, they did not have my reservation. Check in took forever and parking was chaotic. Clerks just kept saying they were sorry.

When I returned from my trip for another night stay, I could not get my car from the parking because someone was parked in front of it.The next morning the desk had to wake up the guest to have him move his car.

Breakfast was toast and nothing more.
The pool had only a little water and was scummy.

Suite had a refrigerator but not one dish or pan.

“Truly Awful!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 August 2007

Stay away! There were cobwebs in the rooms, the common areas were filthy, and the ants on the supplies in the breakfast area were disgusting, but the worst was the desk clerk's response.

I called the desk clerk in to the breakfast room and pointed out the small "sugar" ants that were crawling on the table surface, plates, utensils, sugar packets, creamer, and napkins. She went back to the desk and whipped out a can of "flying insect spray" which she prepared to spray on everything. I insisted on pulling the foodstuffs, at least, out of the way first. Unsurprisingly, the spray did not work on the ants, which weren't the flying kind. She then went and got a bleach solution to try to scrub away the ants. The utensils, etc., were not discarded.

The second room of the two-room suite had no heating or air conditioning, and very little ventilation.

Parking was inadequate.

The entire place was shabby and run down.

The pool was out of service.

The bill was not itemized and the total was 12.5% higher than the bill's stated rate. I find it hard to believe that it was all tax. The clerk was unable to explain the reason for the extra charge.

Don't waste your money on this truly awful place.

“First and last time.”

06-01-07

Booked a two night stay at this hotel two weeks in advance.
Called the same day I booked and asked if I could change the reservation by one day
(as in check in one day later).
I was told "no problem" but my reservation was not in the system yet.
Called back a week or so later to try again.
This time a different person answered the phone.
First I was told they could not find my reservation.
Great.
Person then found it.
Now I am told it can not be changed.
I am told to call Expedia who it was booked through (which I already had done).
I told the person I was on hold for about *45* minutes I got no where with them.
She said the other person should not have told me they can change it
(apparently that was somehow my fault).
The person then tells me they will get paid one way or the other so do what you want, and hung up. I called back and asked for the mgr. Same person then tells me she is the mgr and hung up.
I called another Best Value' and asked for their corporate office.
I called them. While on hold I CANCELLED my reservation (online) with Best Value'.
Note: You can canel for a $25 fee but can not change the reservation (online).
I then rebooked with another hotel (which still on hold).
Operator came on and told me to file a complaint I had to write a letter and fax it
to "Guest Relations". I have never written a letter of complaint before but this will be the first, and as with my scheduled stay with Best Value, it will also hopefully be my last.

“Great Value, Responsive Staff”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 November 2006

Our suite at Best Value was like a small apartment with stove and refridgerator, a couch and table with chairs and a separate bedroom. During our stay we had a roof leak but were moved immediately to a similar room. The hotel is older and funky but very pleasant.

If you plan to use the kitchen, bring impliments as none are provided, although you can get a few things from the staff.

If possible ask for a room in the back; it is less noisy. Excellent access to the airport and 205 freeway.

  • Liked — The price, the space and the kitchen.
  • Disliked — A little run down. Parking could be difficult.
  • Tips/Secrets — Ask for a room at the back. Bring implements if you want to use the kitchen.

“Not Bad”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 August 2006

It's not a four or five star hotel, nor does it pretend to be. This is a budget hotel.
My partner and I stayed here for 5 nights. Check in and check out were quick and easy. The lady at the desk was friendly and very helpful with directions and information.
Parking was easy and at no additional charge. There is a garage. We never had trouble finding a space.
The suite was spacious and clean. The maid service was very good. My only big problem is that the air conditioning unit made annoying noises. We often had to turn it off in order to hear the television. I recommend asking the front desk at check in for a room with a quiet air conditioner. Avoid room 18 if this is an issue for you.
The neighborhood was quiet and appeared safe. The hotel is very close to the airport but there is no airplane noise.
There is a free no frills continental breakfast. The coffee was very good.
There is a pool, but the deep end is only 5 feet. It is more of a kiddie pool.
Overall, our stay was a good experience.
