“Nice Place to stay for a few days”

We have stayed there a number of times while visiting family in Portland. Service & staff have always been good & helpful. Breakfast is typical of SpringHil Suites - generally pretty good for free hotel breakfast.

The only issue I have is making reservations on the marriott website. If we stay 4 nights over a weekend, the website doesn't give us the lower weekend prices for those nights. I have found that you have to make different reservations in order to get the correct, changed rated. The hotel staff has always been willing to change the 3 different reservations to a single check-in and check-out when I get there, but it's still a pain having to go this route. Thes last time we were there the Manager said they were trying to get it fixed with Marriott but so far hadn't been able to do so. She suggested just calling the hotel to make the reservations in the meantime.

Rates are much better at the Airport lacation then hotels in downtown Portland. So unless you simply want/need to stay downtown this is a better alternative. It's only a 15-20 minute drive downtown.

“When in Portland...”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 January 2012

Total remodel. Now, retro 50's with the colors to match. Very cool.
Good choice of foods for breakfast for any type of diet. Friendly staff. A must for me when I am in Portland which is frequently. And great prices.

Room Tip: Get a room on the 5th floor and use the stairs. Extra exercise.

“Pleasantly Surprised”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 October 2011

We stayed here for a weekend while our kids attended a dance competition nearby. It is an airport hotel, so keep that in mind when you are booking. If you want a luxury hotel with spas and 5-star dining, look downtown.

We cancelled a reservation at another hotel when we got a better rate here, and felt like we were taking a gamble. It turned out we made a good choice. The rooms, while not the most modern, were very large. A separate seating area with a desk meant that we could read, watch TV and sample some of Portland's many beers without disturbing the sleeping kids. There was plenty of space to store our many bags, as well as a sink, microwave and fridge in this area.

The free breakfast was way better than I had expected. We easily saved $60-70 on this alone. It included juices, milk, cereal, toast, bagels, a few hot items and waffles, among other things. It is beyond me why anyone would complain about this. It was good, and the price was right! For those that want to buy food to keep in the room, there is a large shopping complex 5 minutes down the road with a Target. There are also a few restaurants there.

I had hoped for a good clean room, with comfortable beds and decent service. This hotel exceeded my expectations, and I will be staying here again.

Room Tip: We faced east and did not hear the trains that our friends facing west heard.

“Nice Hotel with Great Parking”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 October 2011

We were fortunate to have had the pleasure of staying at Springhill Suites for two nights. At check in, the front desk staff was friendly and efficient. The room was spacious and very clean. We had a two queen beds and sofa bed suite that comfortably slept 5. The large screen T.V. was easily viewed by all. The room included a small refrigerator and microwave.

We found the pool and hot tub very relaxing. The continental breakfast was average fare. Cold cereal, juice, fruit, Danish, eggs and a waffle maker. The parking was great! We had 2 cars and a moving truck. There was ample room for all 3 vehicles, and the best thing was that the parking was free!
I guess the only negatives were that we reported a broken lock on the bathroom door twice and it wasn’t addressed. The other criticism was that the pool towels were very small (the size of hand towels), but over all, we enjoyed our stay and will visit there again in the future.

“Reasonably priced & convenient”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 September 2011

We stayed here for 4 nights while I attended a workshop. The room was clean & comfy with really nice contemporary furnishings. Not a complaint, but I would have loved to have some variety with the protein choices at the breakfast instead of the same egg patties, sausage patties, hard boiled eggs every day. However, I was very glad they at least had that since I need to have some protein in the AM. The tireless worker there kept everything well stocked. There is no real dresser in the room, just a small piece with one small drawer and one shelf. No drawers in night tables, either. At least there was a closet with plenty of hangers, so it worked out okay for the 2 of us. Small refrigerator and microwave were nice to have, too. We were near the elevator and right next to the ice machine, but didn't hear either of them one bit. Finally, a hotel with good soundproofing. Being close to Costco helped, too. I would definitely stay here again.
