My husband and I stayed at the Red Lion on the River (Jantzen Beach) and Had a wonderful stay!
The hotel is in a nice location overlooking the river, near the I-5 bridge to get to Vancouver (where our family was located), and within 15 minutes of various shopping malls and large department stores.

There are fast food joints all around (Burger King, Taco Bell, and McDonald's); however, we chose to go to BJ's restaurant (brewery) for some good pizza, appetizers, and beer.

We had some peach cobbler with ice cream at the restaurant within Red Lion that was good too. The hotel was clean and the staff was very friendly and courteous. The only issue was that two of the four vanity lights were out in the bathroom. I told the front desk and it was fixed when we got back to the room-very easy and convenient.

Check out was easy and painless. We left the card keys on the counter and that was it. My billing was accurate and everything went smoothly.

Hotel is located just on the other side of the Border between Washington and Orgeon. It is only about 15 minutes to downtown Portland. Hotel is clean with renovated rooms. We stayed in the west wing which suited us fine as we were here for convention and it was right down the elevator to the ballroom. As such we were closer to the highway noise. The patio doors are not that well insulated so if the hum of traffic bothers you than I would choose the east end. Workout room adequate and clean. The hotel is right on the river so there is a nice path to run. As well for an extra 15 one time charge the hotel is pet friendly. I was able to secure a great price at 80 night on one of the search engines well below the suggested 130 on the hotel website. Overall I would rate this hotel as a 3.5 star. I'm not fussy as long as it is clean. We ate in the Restaurant once and it was only half full and began getting busy due to the convention. Prob not what they are use to as they ran out of martini glasses and a certain bottled beer on their list. This is a big no no in the service industry. I would not underrate the hotel for that but if I was the manager I would be having a look.

Due to the snow and ice storm I couldn't bring my RV to Portland Expo Center for the dog show. I made a last minute reservation at this hotel and was pleasantly surprised at the reasonable price and beautiful amenities. The food in the Grill was excellent and the staff from the front desk, Grill and parking lot security was friendly and helpful.

I will definitely stay here in the future!

This is my favorite place to stay in Portland, Oregon. Riverview, location is great & service is well managed.
Although one thing I would add to this hotel is a workout gym.
During the winter it would be great to workout indoors.
