“Good breakfast, big rooms, friendly staff”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 January 2012

I live in Portland, but needed a couple of nights while my home was being repaired. I selected this hotel based on price, amenities, and the great experience I had at its sister property (Radisson Portland).

This hotel did not disappoint. It's not fancy or super updated, but it's clean, the rooms are big - they kindly upgraded me to a room with a kitchenette, and the staff is friendly - the breakfast staff in particular went out of their way to make me feel welcome.

I don't know if this is true for all rooms with a kitchenette, but I loved that ours was not visible when you entered the room. You walked to the far side, turned left and around a wall there was a full size refrigerator, stove and all the other things needed to prepare full meals. The rooms are a little dated, but the big waterpik showerhead had great pressure and everything was very clean.

The breakfast had a good selection including lots of hot items and some variety each day so if you stay awhile you won't be bored. The only thing I didn't like was that they play musak in the breakfast area while also having the volume up on the TVs mounted on the ceiling. It's kind of distracting and at one point both were pretty loud.

Parking is plentiful and free and I felt safe at night. The staff at the front desk were pleasant and efficient and I would gladly stay here again. It's another great choice for early morning flights or if you live in NE Portland and have family visiting from out of town.

“No heat in the room”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 January 2012

We got in late last night and grabbed a room. We had been traveling for over twenty hours and just wanted a warm place to crash. It was very cold outside (near freezing) and our heater seemed to be slow to work. We fell asleep and awoke to a very cold room. By 7am the heater had not warmed up at all. We complained at check out and were brushed off because we didn't complain last night. Regardless of when we complained, the heater didn't work. Seems like the management would acknowledge that in some way, but they didn't. Next time I will stay elsewhere when visiting Portland.

“Comfortable and Friendly near PDX”

This was our first time at this hotel having stayed at other chains that are nearby previously. We've really enjoyed our stay here. We arrived on a morning flight, the van arrived quickly and had a very friendly and helpful driver. Our room was ready upon arrival at 10 a.m. and Harvey checked us in quickly and efficiently. The room was clean, well stocked with a mini fridge, microwave, and coffeepot, as advertised. As befits an older property there never seems to be enough open outlets to plug mobile devices into. Both bed side lamps were unplugged and I had to hunt around abit to get them plugged back in! I'm sure the mgmt would have come up and done so but thats a small detail in my book. We didnt get a chance to use the pool or spa but took a look and they looked clean and adequate. The beds are very comfy and lots of pillows. Our room faced away from the airport and was relatively quiet given the proximity to the runways. All of the staff has been exceptionally friendly and helpful. Little touches like cookies, 24 hour coffee/tea in the lobby, and a book exchange make this a hotel that we hope to return to time and again. They also have a restaurant on the premises, Brenners. We ate two meals here and were pleasantly surprised by the quality and value of the food, especially given that this is a hotel withing two minutes of the airport. We can recommend the halibut and salmon cakes. Well done. Our waiter at lunch was very friendly and courteous as was Sondra at our evening meal. Its nice to be able to drag in dead tired, get some quality rest and be able to eat a good meal at affordable rates on the premises. Kudos to the staff here!

Room Tip: On side away from runway, upper floor.

“Convenient to the Airport”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 December 2011

We use this hotel whenever we have the early morning flight out of Portland. The people are warm and inviting. The lobby always has freshly baked cookies and the fireplace is on. The room is clean and decorated like most hotels with little sign of wear. A hot breakfast is included with make your own Belgian waffles, eggs, sausage, cereals, fruit, etc. If you need to leave before breakfast is available they will have a bag breakfast to go for you that consists of juice danish and a piece of fruit. Most importantly, we can count on the shuttle getting us to the airport on time. Airlines use this hotel for their flight crews. I was going to book the hotel online but my wife called directly and was able to get a $15 cheaper price by booking over the phone. They also have the stay and park here while on vacation deal. We have used it several times and saves us money and is convenient.

“Quick hop to the Airport”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 December 2011

There are plenty of places to stay surrounding the Portland Airport. This one's better than most (and I've stayed at plenty!).
Front desk folks are friendly, the shuttle is quick and responsive (if you call them from the airport), the 'business center' adequate. The room decor is dated - but clean.
Can't speak for the anything else - all I use it for is a night's sleep before departing for an early morning flight. But for the price, it's a good deal (and meets all my mininmum requirements).

Room Tip: Unless you PLAN to get up early, avoid rooms on the back side - they face the airport and early morn...
