“All you would expect from Marriott”

I got this hotel on Priceline for $65 a night (!!!) and it was GREAT. If you're coming form the airport grab a $5 all day pass for the TriMet (Portland's public transportation system, the pass is good for the lightrail, buses etc..) in 45 minutes you are downtown Portland! This hotel is a short 2 block walk from the station. Once inside it is a small lobby, but it does what it needs to, checking in was a breeze, I called the day before for a "no feather" room and was happily accommodated. The whole 12th floor is a PURE allergy/asthma friendly floor. You even get a air purifier in your room! :) I was in room 1201, not a view of anything unless you classify heating/air conditioning items as decor. I didn't care though, I wasn't in Portland to sit in a room and look out a window. Great location, and great beds! You won't be disappointed!

“Practical and Convenient Location”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 January 2012

Overall: Stayed for business meetings, great location with respect to the MAX and great shopping. Unsure if I would stay here again, there seem to be quite a few hotels in the area that I would like to check out! Stayed in room 514, nothing exceptional about the room, functional and practical.

Check in: Checked in on a Wednesday night, and no issues/challenges. I had to make two reservations as my schedule changed and needed to add an additional night (hence the one night at $60 more). This was a bit of a pain in the butt as I had to come back down to re-check in.

Rates: Through a travel agency, $189 for first night, $129 for the next two nights.

Resort Fee: None

Internet Service: Did not use.

Toiletries: Shampoo, conditioner, lotion, and body soap (Bath and Body Works Line).

“Comfortable hotel, perfect location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 January 2012

I've stayed at this Marriott numerous times for business, and deliberately chose it at the end of December when on a pleasure trip. After reading the other reviews of this particular hotel I thought it might be helpful to point out that those of us who travel frequently and have joined Marriott Rewards (I'm a gold level member) are given perks that are usually not available to casual travelers - things like bathrobes and upgraded amenities in the room, a room on a higher floor with a view, room upgrades, access to the concierge lounge (free full breakfast buffet), etc. That said, I have always found this hotel to be well run, with a helpful staff, extremely comfortable (and quiet!) rooms and a location that couldn't be better - right in downtown Portland. I'd also like to note that Portland's wonderful light rail system will get you from the airport to within easy walking distance of the hotel in well under an hour for under $3! Buy a ticket from the machines at the light rail exit from baggage claim and take the red or blue line to the Pioneer Square station at Morrison and Broadway in downtown Portland (you'll see Nordstrom's on the corner), walk down Broadway two or three blocks and you're there. The restaurant has a somewhat limited menu but the food is very good - they're competing with a number of highly rated restaurants close by and it appears they know it. A very nice Marriott in a very good location.

“Great location...great hotel!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 January 2012

The location of this hotel is perfect for those who want to be in the center of it all. The lobby is small as some of the other reviews state, but the lounge on the second floor is very nice with great seating by windows to look out. We parked our car across the street in a garage and paid a fraction of the $$ it would have cost us to valet park with the hotel itself. The workout facility is really nice and has a good selection of machines and weights.

“Great location, staff and Elite Experience”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 December 2011

After having a poor experience at the Marriott in Chicago (Miracle Mile) with the lack of recognition for Platinum Elite member, my family was sour on Marriott hotels for weekend stays. HOWEVER, the Marriott Portland City Center made up for it. We were upgraded to a nice room, given breakfast vouchers (the concierge club is closed from Friday PM thru Sunday AM) for one of the mornings (very tasty!!) and given a late check-out.

Location: EXCELLENT!! Only one block from Pioneer Sq and a light rail stop.

Staff: Throughout our stay they were very willing to go above and beyond and very friendly.

Tips: Parking is spendy at the hotel, so I recommend street parking if you're OK with feeding the meters or use one of the Smart Park lots only a few blocks from the hotel. Plus, if you have concierge club access, and you want an alcoholic beverage, just ask. The liquor was not out for self-service, nor advertised. But if you asked the staff working there, they're happy to serve you.

The lobby is oddly designed, but who really hangs out in the lobby anyway????

We would stay here again!!
