“Nice location, getting dated”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 January 2012

The hotel is in a great location. Just a block from the mass transit, and a nice mall. Two blocks away from downtown with nice restaurants. The hotel itself is getting old and needs to be remodeled. The beds were old and the room I stayed in did not have all the living room furniture. The Television was updated at least (nice LCD), and the cable service was better than most I have seen at Marriotts. Plenty of HD channels.

Room Tip: The closer you are too the club house the better your internet service will be.

Thanks for your input; we sure appreciate you staying with us. You have noticed that we started our interior renovation with the addition of the flat screen TV’s. Now we are getting geared up to start the full refresh of all of our rooms. Also, as technology marches on, I am pleased to announce that we have just contracted to triple our internet speed. Do come see us again so we can show you our improvements.

“Not the best showing. I've seen better.”

We stayed in a big room with a bedroom and a loft. I've stayed in quite a few of this style hotels. Externally it was nice, front desk people were helpful and the breakfast was good. The bad part was the room itself. Smelled stale and everything was old. The desk chair was in need of repair and there were no decorations on the walls. Just not very homely and not what I'd expected from a Marriott property.

Thank you for your feedback, we sure appreciate you staying with us. You are correct; we are a little older of a property. 2 years ago we finished a complete renovation of our exteriors, and I am happy to announce we are getting ready to start on all of our interiors. Flat panel TV’s with HD programming, granite counters, and brand new sofas and chairs, to name a few of the projects. We will continue to operate as we refresh and expect completion by the end of the year. I look forward to you returning so I can show off our new look!

“Enjoyable stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 November 2011

I enjoyed my stay last week at the Residence Inn. While an older property, the hotel has been refurbished recently, and I was happy with the furnishings and amenities in my room. The staff was friendly and very helpful with directions. I enjoyed the evening reception and complimentary morning breakfast. The hotel is located on the other side of the movie theater after you cross the park if you arriving on rail (about a 3-4 block walk). The hot tub was extremely relaxing after a hard day travelling and working. Several restaurants are located nearby and a Safeway is about 6 blocks away.

Room Tip: Rooms near the main road were noisy.

Thanks for staying with us - I am so happy you had a nice time. Our hot tub, being outdoors, normally is closed during the winter. This year we decided to cover it and keep it open year round. I'm glad to hear you enjoyed it.
We hope to take care of you again the next time you travel to Portland.

“Splendid!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 November 2011

Just came back from spending two nights at this hotel. My girlfriends and I decided last minute to go away for the weekend. Searched online for a hotel and this hotel showed up with a fantastic price! Read the reviews and booked it. No regrets at all! Really impressed!

Excellent location: 3 minutes walk to one of the largest malls in Portland - Lloyd Center; 5 minutes walk to the max rail which will take you downtown for free; $10 to $15 ride to downtown Portland. Didn't need to drive anywhere! (hotel has complimentary parking!)

Room: Stayed in a studio with a full kitchen, queen bed and sofa bed. No complaints there. Rooms were clean and bed was comfy! Buy your own water because the ones in your room aren't free. Also they charge 50 cents for local calls including using the taxi button on the phone to call for a taxi. If you want to save that money go to front desk and ask them to call a taxi for you.

Staff: Friendly and helpful. No complaints!

Other: Free Wifi. Complimentary breakfast every morning was really good. They offered lots of variety from fresh fruit to scrambled eggs and sausages. You can also make your own waffles! If you get hungry at night, they have lots of snacks and frozen dinners you can purchase at front desk.

Overall, this is a great place for a fantastic price! I would definitely stay here next time. In fact, my friends and I have decided to make this place our place to stay when we do our annual shopping getaway/trip to Portland!

Room Tip: Try to stay on the top floor as the floors are very thin and you can often hear people walking on to...

“Great base for bicycling Portland”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 October 2011

I just got back from a great trip bicycling Portland. I stayed at the Residence Inn near Lloyd Center, which is the perfect hotel for visiting Portland by bike. I spent the entire week getting around by bike, foot, and public transportation and never missed having a car. The hotel is just three blocks from a TriMet Max Light Rail Station, which provides direct connection to the airport, downtown, and many of the outlying areas. Because it is the last station in the "free transit zone," trips into downtown Portland cost nothing on the Max, which was a great money saver. Also, the street fronting the hotel has a bike lane, which provides easy access to the excellent Eastbank Esplanade bike trail which can take you downtown or to miles of other trails.

The hotel is directly across from the Lloyd Center Mall, a multiplex theater, and a short distance from several great walking neighborhoods, including the Alberta Arts district, which features a wide variety of shops and restaurants.

The hotel itself is more like an apartment, than a hotel. My studio room had a queen bed, foldout couch, desk, breakfast nook, fireplace, free Wi-Fi, and a small kitchen. My room was on the ground floor, which allowed me to just roll my bike into the room. The spacious room left plenty of room to store a bike, without having it get in the way.

The grounds of the hotel are quite pretty - filled with trees, which were in full autumn splendor during my trip. On the hotel grounds are a pool, hot tub, and large coin operated laundry room, which came in very handy.

For a hungry cyclist, the free breakfast buffet was particularly welcome. Regular items included a Crockpot full of oatmeal, cereals, yogurt, fruit, muffins, toast, and make your own waffles, and then each morning featured a different "main course" like breakfast burritos and sausage egg biscuits.

On Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday nights, the hotel also offers a free light dinner.

Portland is one of the most bike friendly cities I have ever experienced and for the two wheel traveler, the Residence Inn at the Lloyd Center is a great base for exploring the Rose city.
