I was pleasantly suprised --very quite good views----we got see the harbor---ocean--whales in the harbor----which were not in any hurry to leave. We stayed Mother's Day week-end-----it was very quite and with the nice little kitchen we didn't have to leave but once for Mther;s Day dinner-------we will go back!

The Castaway was a beautiful place and the view gorgeous, but because it was up on a hill, the wind was ferocious. The summer winds in the area of Port Orford are dangerously strong. We could not enjoy being outside. When we first entered our room, we wondered why the little porch was permanently glassed in and then I realized it was to keep the wind out.

We spent one night here arriving late on a Saturday. We got the last room on the lower floor.
The room was very nice and clean. It was well equipped with dishes, silverware, pots and pans, stove, kitchen sink, large refrigerator and freezer.
The innkeeper was very friendly and helpful with our travel needs and advice which helped us a lot later on.
The view is a bay on the south side of the hotel. It did have some kind of ship loading dock, but we had to walk to the side of the hill to see it. It was not viewable from our room. But the ocean, bay and hills were in view from the livingroom area and the benches just outside the room at the top of the hill. It is a very nice place to relax.
The price for the room came to $112, but seemed worth it, for the view and the full kitchen and eat in kitchen/dining area.
We were hoping to watch the sunset at night, but the view is to the south from the hotel and bay. A large hill blocked the sunset from the area. But he did recommend a parking/viewing area just about one mile away.
The bed seemed nice and comfortable, the bathroom was nice with a heat lamp to warm the room. I could have spent a few weeks here and been comfortable with the accommodations.
The town is small, but nice. It has grocery, gas stations and some restaurants close by.
I would definitely stay here again.

We selected this hotel because it had good AAA ratings and advertised secure internet in the room, as well as allowing pets. Also WiFi was supposed to be available.Neither internet options were available. The innkeeper allowed us the use of the office internet. He was also helpful in accommodating a room issue.

The room was very basic, which for the most part was all we needed.. A major deficit for me was no coffee in the room.

The view is breathtaking. Our room,like others, faced the ocean and had a very nice sitting area.
