This is by far the best 'motel' (it’s a disservice to even call it simply a motel), that I have ever stayed in. We stayed in a big-chain motel the night before, and went in search of somewhere better suited to our needs and budget. I was drawn by the reviews already posted - we are very down-to-earth people who enjoy a friendly staff and the little touches of home - which is what the reviews leaned towards.
The price: Excellent! I would advise calling the local number vs. the 800 number, which is just a call center. On the other hand, the local number rings the motel directly and the staff couldn't be friendlier! We were quoted a much cheaper price than the 800 number (we called locally because it didn't seem as though the people at the reservation center knew much)
The lady at the desk was so kind, knowledgeable and friendly, and offered us such a great weekly rate, that we couldn't resist - and chose the week!
They held a specific room for us, as stairs are tough for us and all our stuff.
Our room was spotless, very modern but homey & welcoming. Could it get any better?
YES! Warm cookies - prepared by the owner himself - wait in the lobby around bedtime, in addition to coffee and milk. We listened as he even offered to carry the milk and cookies to the room for a gentleman that had two children and a dog in tow. We're impressed!
The morning breakfast is just as good - if not better - than any you will find at the chain hotels, with an charming 'Rooter Room' to sit and eat at. Comfy chairs, lots of natural light, and more friendly staff. Breakfast is available from 7AM-10AM.
The staff bends over backwards with things you do not normally find in bigger chains - even offering to fill out cooler with ice :) (Most places we stay in have signs against that!)
There was no extra fee for our dog, and taxes were included in the price quoted, so we had no surprises. Bedding was comfy; love the pillow top mattresses and down-like pillows. Extra pillows and wool blankets were found in the room as well.
I really cannot say enough about this "bed & breakfast" motel.
One caveat - and I think others have posted this ~ the motel does have train tracks that are well used about a block behind them. It does sit on the highway as well. Light sleepers might take this into consideration; I personally love the sound of light traffic and trains (they are not allowed to blow the horns, so the noise is mild, actually good for those who enjoy some 'white noise')
Be sure to call the motel directly - don't pass up this charming, friendly and economical stop in Pendleton.
