“If you getaway rarely, come here”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 January 2012

We just spent a couple of week day nights at the Mt. Hood Hamlet. Very relaxing. The hosts were very helpful, pointing out nearby areas of interest and chatting quite freely but not all overbearingly. Our room was very nice, warm and inviting. Especially nice was their willingness to accommodate our special needs. One of the reasons we rarely get away is that my wife is very gluten intolerant, so eating away from home becomes a problem. Our hosts not only prepared gluten-free breakfasts, keeping her food adequately isolated from gluten containing foods other guests and I were eating, but also steered us to an excellent restaurant in town (Hood River) where my wife could get gluten-free fare. My wife was not sick at all during our stay, which is a rarity when we travel. All-in-all, a relaxing and fun time.

“Great winter getaway”

Had a nice stay here last winter 2010/2011, was an icy, stormy night, but found the place no problem. Went to Hood River for great dining, then a nice cozy night at the B&B. Woke to a beautiful sunny morning outside, snowy grounds with birds at the feeders. Food was fantastic. Plenty of nearby trails a short drive away for XC skiing. Not sure if they've changed it since, but the bed was a little harder than we're used to, otherwise would recommend.

“A Wonderful Weekend”

My husband and I spent two nights at this lovely bed and breakfast. The rooms are lovely and quite spacious and ours had a fireplace. We awoke in the morning to an amazing view of Mt. Hood. Paul and Diane are gracious hosts and even had a forest park pass for us to use when we went hiking our first day there. We didn't try out the hot tub but it looked great. Breakfasts were delicious with homemade goodies courtesy of Paul. They had a marvelous pear compote on waffles for our second morning which we thoroughly enjoyed. I would highly recommend staying here.

Room Tip: The rooms on the south side have amazing views of Mt. Hood. We stayed in Vista Ridge. We peeked in t...

“Great place to stay in the shadow of Mt. Hood”

We only had one night, unfortunately, to stay at this lovely B&B. The views are amazing. Our room faced the mountain so we saw the sun set on a cloudy peak and woke to the sun rising on a new cap of snow and a crystal clear view. The B&B had a welcoming feel. We enjoyed the hot tub. The owners were friendly and helpful and provided an amazing breakfast which was highly attuned to my wife's dietary restrictions. They sat down to breakfast with us, which was nice, and were eager to describe the area, the region, and activities. I wish we could have enjoyed more of those activities...maybe next time.

Room Tip: Ask for the room with the summit view. No jacuzzi, but the outside one is great.

“A wonderful place”

We recently stayed at the Mount Hood Hamlet, a bed and breakfast at the foot of Mount Hood.the inn is run by Paul and Diane Romans, a pair of retired school teachers. The inn is on the site of the home in which Paul grew up so he is a fountain of local knowledge. The bed and breakfast is in the middle of the cherry and pear orchards in the Hood River valley. The area is also part of the newest designated wine appellation, the Columbia Gorge appellation. We spent three days at the hamlet. Part of each day was spent at the local wineries tasting their surprisingly excellent wines. Another day was spent on Mount Hood visiting the Timberline Lodge (go and visit but don't stay there) and hiking some of the numerous trails while another day was spent driving up the Columbia River Gorge to the Columbia River Gorge Interpretative Center which is a well done local museum that centers on the Lewis and Clark expedition which went through there and the early settlers to Oregon (it was the terminus of the Oregon Trail).

The hamlet itself was recently redone and is spotless. The rooms are comfortable and the bathrooms are quite nice. There is a beautiful garden outside filled with birds, especially colorful goldfinches. The breakfasts were outstanding (we didn't eat lunch any day we stayed there - we were too full). Paul and Diane are gracious hosts who made us feel completely at home in their home. We loved it.
