“Nice & Cozy, but a "full" Oceanview is questionable”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 January 2012

I like this place. It is a bit dated, but very clean and well kept. We had a studio room that comes with a full kitchen. The Murphy bed is quite comfortable. Friendly staff - it's Oregon, you don't get mean Oregonians. We spent a few nights there and were generally happy, except for the two things below:

(1) It is misleading to think you will get a "full" oceanview as promised - in actual fact you see the ocean over the roofs of another building. And if you are sitting down, you see mostly the other building and just a small part of the ocean is unobstructed. But if walking isn't a problem, you can take the stairs down to the beach, which is fantastic, especially when the tides are low.

(2) The Wifi is a pain even during week days, and virtually no cell signal. This place isn't for you if you need to be contacted while on vacation. I got my work sorted out, unfortunately a family member passed away while I was there and I couldn't be contacted. It's a shame actually. Nowadays, a strong WiFi/ cell signal is expected, just like you expect to get electricity and water in the room, so why not make WiFi/ cell signal available too?

“Great Stay-Incredible Value Near Newport, Oregon”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 November 2011 via mobile

I stayed here in July. The Oregon Coast can be expensive in the summer months but I received a 1 bedroom kitchen unit w/full ocean view for $119 a night. I was initially worried about the Murphy bed being comfortable but it was better than most hotel beds. The view was beautiful. It feels like a private beach w/few hotel guests using the beach. You can walk down the beach into the Devil's Punch Bowl when the tide is out. 5 minutes away from Newport, Oregon. Beautiful grounds, Great location, Professional/Friendly Staff. Will definitely stay here again! Highly recommend it for singles, couples and families.

“Great stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 October 2011

We spent one night at Otter Crest and have a wonderful stay in unit 417 studio. The room was very clean and did have some newer updates with newer appliances and carpet. The bed was one of those foam comfort matress, woke up without a back ache. Very cozy to listen to the storm that passed through the night and left the beach deserted. The kitchen had everything that you might need for a weeks stay. I loved that you left your car in the parking lot and rode the golf cart to your room and walked to the beach or pool. The wifi wasn't fast but you can check your email and do some surfing. It made the night and morning very quiet without everyone loading and unloading the car. The ocean view from the balcony was outstanding. The only disapointing aspect of the stay was the restaurant was closed, we did learn in that new people were busy taking it over and would be open again soon.

Room Tip: All the rooms have an ocean view

“Beautiful setting, shabby room”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 October 2011

The ocean view and landscaped grounds made us anticipate a luxury resort. The friendly and warm staff also. But our room was dated and shabby, old and worn fixtures and shag carpet, older furniture. And as we used the room we found dirt, crumbs, old food not cleaned up. Dirty coffee pot. I filled out the survey provided and gave it to the staff. Half my room charge was refunded ( I did not request this, I just wanted them to know my experience). So- hope they update and clean it, it's worth it!

“Can't beat the view”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 October 2011

We stayed for two nights in a "mini" suite. It was clean and comfortable. Had a great view from our balcony. The grounds are kept up. It was quiet. Went down to the beach and collected agates before the storm that night either covered them up or washed them away. It is a great place to make as a homebase to be able to visit other attractions or towns. If you don't have a kitchen unit, be prepared to have to drive a few miles either way for meals. The resident restaurant was closed while we were there. Be sure to drive up to Cape Foulweather. Another awesome view. Would highly recommend staying here. We will again in the future! Also would recommend the Tidal Raves restaurant in Depoe Bay.
