We were staying in nearby Netarts recently and had read reviews of Roseanna's Oceanside Cafe before we left on our trip, so wanted to be sure to have dinner while staying in the area. We arrived at 4:30 on a Saturday afternoon, so we were there before the crunch of the dinner crowd. We were able to get a table by the window that looks down on the neighboring beach and out to the large rock outcroppings and surf. We started our dining experience with an appetizer - the Seafood Stuffed Mushrooms. They were stuffed with shrimp, salmon and crab and laying in a delectable white sauce that had my husband spooning the sauce into his mouth after we had finished the mushrooms! For dinner I had the halibut, grilled, with a lemon-butter sauce. You can have your choice of pan fried or grilled and a number of different sauces for your halibut (or salmon if you order that). The halibut was very fresh; one of the best pieces of fish I've ever had. My husband had the Razor Clams, breaded and fried, but the breading didn't overpower the clams. They were done to perfection. Our sides were red roasted potatoes and a surprising squash dish that left us wondering how they prepared it. Then came the final pleasure for our taste buds--dessert! On the wall near where you dine, there is a large sign that lists all of their desserts. We laughed because while you were planning your meal, eating your meal, the sign is always there tempting you with this list of wonderfully-tempting concoctions. My husband had the Marionberry Cobbler, but allowed me a bite and when the berries hit my mouth, it was instant heaven! Oh, my goodness! At that point I was disappointed that I didn't order that, but then I had the first bite of my dessert--the 3-milk coconut cake with fresh strawberries--and knew I had made the right choice. The cake was very moist, refreshing, and making me wish we had the rest of the cake pan to take with us. All in all, this was a wonderful dining experience. While the price for all of this was a lot more than we would normally pay, it was a special evening, and so we had no shock when the ticket was put on our table. With a glass of wine and coffee, too, tip included brought out tab up to $90. The only negative I might throw out is that the tables along the window are right on top of each other, so you do feel a little cramped if someone is sitting directly behind you at the next table, but you quickly forget that when you start enjoying the food. By the time we left, the restaurant was full, so we were glad that we arrived early. Worth the drive over to Oceanside, which is a charming town -- walk off your dinner on the beach!
