“mill casino hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

We stayed two nights at the Mill Hotel celebrating a birthday. Only one of us is a gambler, so wifi in the room is a nice plus to while away the wee hours.

All the hotel staff were friendly and helpful.

Not neccessarily a long walk from the back of the parking lot, but valet parking is available when it's pouring outside (what, rain in Oregon?).

We golfed at Sunset Golf Course one pleasant winter morning. The course is only 15-20 minutes away from the hotel in a small valley just off the beach. No ocean views. Nine holes of fun golf, but if your looking for Augusta, don't bother. I love playing here, although we did have to share the course with one other twosome. Luckily, the elk tracks missed most of the greens.

Just a note for the serious golfer. Bandon Dunes is only a 30 minute drive south from the hotel.

The restaurant has a beautiful view across the bay. The food is good. Nothing spectacular, but some items better than others. (I would suggest breakfast at the Pancake Mill restaurant just North of the hotel. It's worth the wait in line.)

The newer tower rooms have nice views of the bay and river. Very comfortable beds.

The hotel site is located on the docks of a former lumber mill in the Coos Bay/North Bend area. Some of the timber in the bay harken to the days when this community was one of the largest lumber shipping ports in the world.

We enjoyed our stay, and will visit again.

Room Tip: Suggest the tower rooms. There are only seven floors, so the higher up, the better the view.

“Great Beds and Nice Rooms!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

The rooms are really nice and the beds are the most comfortable hotel beds ever! I would stay here again.

Room Tip: Ask for the new addition to the hotel. The old rooms are nice too, but a little smaller as I recall...

“Terrible Bar”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 January 2012

The cost is normal/high but the pours are short. The choice in wine isn't worth your time and the service was terrible. Only good part was the band.

“Fantastic value”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 January 2012

My wife and I stayed in the hotel tower on a 'special' offer that included a $40 meal credit, a free shuttle to and from the Shore Acres christmas light show (300,000 lights!) and the room with a bay view. The facility is clean and new-looking (even the bathroom was very up to date). The room was large and quiet. The reception staff greet you from free-standing desks which makes for a friendly start. In fact ALL the staff from the valet to the housekeepers and the casino personnel were amazingly polite, helpful and cheerful. One big surprise, we thought the highway would be noisy but you don't hear it at all. The hotel is non smoking and there is a section of the casino that is too, but the main floor is (like Vegas) a smoker's parsadise. The restaurant food is good ---nothing special ---service top notch.

Room Tip: The tower worked well for us but the other buildings looked fine too.

“The Mill Hits the Jackpot with Everything But the Gaming”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 December 2011

We arrived at the hotel on a Monday after the holiday and the service by the front desk and bellman was great. We had a King Tower room and received an internet rate so we paid much less than the going rate. The room was on the top floor facing the water and the view was exceptional, the room was very clean and spacious with vaulted ceiling. The shower and vanity was spacious as well. The shower head was lacking a bit but got the job done.

After getting settled in our room we went to the casino and it was small but with a large variety of games, new and old which was nice. We played many of the games and we are quite familiar with Casinos in Washington, Oregon, and Las Vegas and these games had to be some of the tighest machines we have played, the rarely paid anything and the bonuses rarely came up and when they did the pay was minimal.

We ate at the Warehouse and the service was great and it was extremely affordable and if you like sports they had multiple TV's playing variety of games.

If you are in the mood for staying away a night or two in a great hotel with amazing service and don't care that the casino probably won't pay out then I would highly recommend this place, if you are looking to purely gamble this may not be the place to go if you want to win.

Room Tip: Check for special internet rates.
