“Go for the view not the bed!”

Seriously they have a great view, you can see Yaquina head lighthouse in the distance to the North. They have huge spotlights that shine on the ocean at night it lights up the waves and looks amazing. The beds on the other hand seem to be made of concrete. I've slept on a firm bed before but really this hurt me for days after. We did take our pet with us and they do charge $25. Other than the view the room we stayed in was below standard, outdated.

Room Tip: Stay on floors 2 or higher on the first floor your view is obstructed by railing and there is a walk...

We are pleased that you enjoyed our dramatic and memorable ocean views. Our many return guests feel the same, and appreciate that we are able to light the beach at night for a 24/7 experience.

Please accept our apologies for an overly-firm bed. We are continually in the process of updating all of our 179 ocean view rooms, and hope that we can find just the right one for you on your next stay.

“You are paying for the view and the location...”

My partner and I stayed here in August. We attempt to make a trip down the Oregon coast each year and decided to stay at the Shilo Inn Suites. There is ample free parking in several different lots. Our check-in was effortless and we went straight to the room to unpack. Once we opened our door, the smell of bleach overwhelmed us. We went back down to the main office and stood in line to get a different room. Besides this small hiccup, our stay was nice. The beds were fine and it was wonderful to wake up and see and hear the ocean outside of our window. We were able to have a morning walk on the waterfront. Less than a 5 minute drive away is La Maison restaurant which is known for their breakfasts (see other review). We did not utilize the cafe nor the pool.

Room Tip: Recommend the second floor and further away from the office = better view and less foot traffic.

My family and I stayed at the shilo a few times about two years ago and loved it. We just got back from a stay there and were more than disappointed. There were no free cookies, fruit, or even popcorn anymore. the rooms were OK but not even complementary lotions. The TV remote only worked half the time, the chairs in the pool area were limited to 4 and they were broken. The vending machines ate more of the money than it gave product. The front-desk never answered the phone. For the price you have to pay we were upset that they didn't even provide a small Continental breakfast of any kind

Over all I truly think that we payed way to much for the rooms and didn't get any complimentary anything!! We will not be staying here again.

We will be staying at another place from now on. I know for a fact that I can get a way better deal with the free amenity's for a way lower price without giving up the quality we deserve!!!!

Thank you for submitting your feedback regarding your recent stay at Shilo Inns Oceanfront Hotel in Newport.
While the continental breakfast, cookies, and popcorn were discontinued several years ago, we are happy to offer our Shilo Café for breakfast each morning, and also for lunch on the weekends. The menu features delicious and affordable selections from our talented kitchen staff.

We did resolve the temporary phone outage, which did inconvenience some guests.
Thank you for informing us about a problem with the vending machine. We have contacted the vending company to perform any needed repairs.

This motel is a bugdet friendly motel. The view was excellent. The room was average. overall a good value my main complaint would be the lighting outside is so bright that you could read a book in the middle of the night without a single light on. The staff was freindly and helpful as to directions and restuants,

This was a last min. get out of town for New Years weekend. I went on line found a great deal, read the reviews and went for 3 nights.
The reviews are right on, The property is old and dated it has been remodeled many times it was clean quiet and the view was great We had a great week end on a budget.
