“Clean and a great view”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 February 2012

Lots of good things to say. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Great view, spacious rooms, comfy beds and bedding, covered parking. Evenings they serve fresh warm cookies and salmon chowder. Cozy fireplace in each room is nice, and the pilot light is always on and keeps the room at 70 degrees. A big drawback for us is the complete lack of air conditioning in any guest rooms. There is a ceiling fan, but that just moves the air - doesn't cool the room. If you like to sleep in a cool room then hope that the overnight temps and an open balcony door will do the trick.
The hot breakfast is just ok and similar to other usual hotel offerings.
Fitness equipment room is very small, and adjacent to pool/hot tub, with 3 pieces of equipment, but overlooks the ocean. Treadmill, cycle and eliptical.
It is about a 1 block walk to get to the beach.

Room Tip: All rooms have an ocean view.

Your comments are much appreciated. I will certainly pass your remarks on to the staff, I feel we have one of the best crews on the coast and comments like yours reconfirm those feelings.

Unfortunately, none of the hotels here on the oceanfront have airconditioners. There are very few days that get that warm and typically if the door is open, and the fan is turned on it cools the room down relatively fast.

Hope to see you again soon.

“Great hotel, awesome views, a little noisy”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 February 2012

This review is for a King North room, that has a view of the lighthouse. The room is amazing, especially if you like lighthouses. A north facing window doubles your view of the ocean and you can watch the lighthouse from the desk next to the window or on the balcony.

Check-in was quick and professional. Room was beautiful and clean, with good towels, comfortable bed, nice toiletries and robes. The fireplace makes it cozy and puts out a lot of heat.

Be aware that breakfast is on the 3rd floor, so if you stay in a room near 320 it can be noisy from 6:30am - 10am, try to avoid rooms near there. We were in 334 at the end of the hall and it wasn't noticeable. We did however, clearly hear the people above us walking around, so if you are a light sleeper bring ear plugs.

You are right on the ocean in a nice room with a private balcony, so it is really great. My only wish is that they'd built with concrete floors for better sound insulation.

Room Tip: Ask for rooms away from the elevators for less foot traffic noise, avoid rooms around 320.

The King North View rooms are probably our most popular room types, and it is often difficult to get reservations for them as they book up for weeks in advance. It is an amazing view and especially on those rainy or windy days, it is nice to be able to sit in your room and still be able to see the lighthouse.

We very seldom have noise issues, so I was surprised to hear you heard the guests above you. Please keep in mind that if there should be any excessive noises to call us right away and we will address it.

Thank you for the review.

“A View of the Oregon Coast in Newport”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 February 2012

I stay at the Elizabeth Street Inn in Newport 2 or 3 times each year. I love the view of the ocean as the tide moves up and down the beach. In the summer the setting sun seems to go on forever and in the winter the rolling surf and beach fires add a mystery to the coast while staying in town. The rooms are full sized with a great fireplace to keep you warm if you want to open the sliding glass door to your private balcony. The linen is of high quality and snuggles next to your body.

The desk help remembers your name and tries to make your requests happen. I have seen a few disappointed guests, but they seem to complain about minor issues - towels or linen or the fireplace - trying to receive a discount on the room. It has embarrassed me to listen to them. However, the staff patiently listens and does their best to make people happy.

Room Tip: Arrive early in the day and ask for the highest floor available.

Who can write better reviews than our loyal, repeat guests? Your comments really mean a lot to us and boost the morale of the staff, and owners as well. The owners of the Hotel strive to keep our rooms up to the standards that our guests expect.

We do have the most beautiful sunsets in the world here on the West Coast and there is nothing like enjoying it from your private balcony, or even from your room on those windy or cold days.

Thank you for recognizing the front desk associates. I have to agree, they are very accommodating and try to resolve any minor issues that may arise. Your acknowledgement of what they sometimes have to deal with is most appreciated.

Take care, and see you soon.

“I keep coming back!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 February 2012

Awesome oceanfront, understated, quiet, cozy. We did a last-minute trip here for winter storm watching. Thought we'd just find another place in Lincoln City, but couldn't do -- we always end up at the Elizabeth Street Inn. Salmon chowder for a late afternoon snack, amazing view, fireplaces, comfortable bed, deck, so relaxing! Also has fridge, microwave, coffeemaker in the room (and coffee in lobby, too). The only thing to note is that they make chocolate chip cookies for guests, about 8 pm, I think. We went to the casino in Lincoln City and out for dinner and they're always gone when we get back! Sad. I would love it if they made a 2nd batch for us "later" nighters. :) We seem to always miss the breakfast, too (6-10 am) because we sleep in and take advantage of the cozy coast.
Pool and amenities were closed for remodeling but it was ok because it was such a fast trip and we hardly ever have time to enjoy that anyway (we don't travel there with the kids).
Also worthy of noting, most restaurants close early in Newport, but there are a few bars and Newport Cafe nearby that are open late and are ok. Thank you, Elizabeth Street Inn, for being our home away from home.

Room Tip: Try to get floors 3-4. Floor 2 is above parking area and one time, we were awoken by a large diesel...

Glad to hear you "always end up at the Elizabeth Street Inn". Those kinds of comments always make us happy.

Storm watching is probably my favorite time to watch the oceans fury. It is so amazing to sit in the room and watch it in front of the fireplace, and out of the elements. We get a lot of guests that come specifically in the winter just to see the storms roll in.

Next time you come down let us know if you are heading out in the evening, and we can put a couple of cookies away for you.

We are proud to be your "home away from home".

See you soon!

“Perfectly cozy and family friendly”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 February 2012

Stayed one night with friends, 4 adults and three children in all. We walked in and were able to get a great rate on a "family suite" which was really just two adjoining rooms. But the rooms were immaculately clean, comfortable and very cozy with fireplaces, balconies overlooking the ocean and lighthouse and a comfy sitting area. The kids found something to watch on the flat screen TV and although we didn't use it there was a DVD player in the room and a rental library in the lobby. The served pretty decent chowder in the evening and cookies at night (we missed those). The breakfast room was a little crowded at 9 am on a Sunday morning. We made our waffles but skipped the sorry looking eggs...a little later they brought out fresh ones and we ate some along with sausages and really good biscuits and gravy. All in all a great breakfast that went way beyond a stale muffin, although the coffee left a lot to be desired. I'd definitely recommend this place to a friend and will try to stay here again when in Newport.

The "family suites" are very convenient when there are several people who want to be able to go back and forth between rooms without having to go outside the living area. If you are traveling with your children then they have a TV in their room to watch, and the parents can visit or watch TV on their side, but still be able to monitor the kids.

Thank you for staying with us and for referring us to your friends.

Best regards,

Lela
