“Great Value next door to the Aviation Museum”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 February 2011

Needed a room for only one night while we visited the Evergreen Aviation Museum ( Spruce Goose ) just down the road. Perfect choice, even had the hospital right across the street and only 3 minute drive into town. Large room ( 33 ft X 12 ft ) with 2 comfortable queen beds/ pull out chesterfield/working desk with proper "office type " chair / large fridge and microwave/ in room safe/cofee table/ good lighting and lots of plugs. Very well laid out and spotless bathroom. Price was very fair - $90 including tax and comp breakfast - eggs sauages hash browns cereals etc etc and very helpfull staff. Oh yes if you are going to the museum just a couple of hundred yards down the road, leave lots of time. We were there for the full day 9 am to 4:30 pm and still missed some exhibits. Museum staff extremely helpfull and Cosmos restaurant very good value and food. We were ther off season ( Feb) so there was no crowds. Museum is a must...the Space Shuttle and a water theme park coming soon. We will drive down from Canada ( Vancouver BC ) next year to see what we missed and most certainly will stay at the Red Lion.

“Pleasant surprise!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 November 2010

To my complete surprise, I was impressed with this place. I'm not gonna lie, I was expecting motel-like conditions and had to come to terms with that since there was virtually no availability in town. What we got was a room that was comparable to some Hilton's I have stayed in.

I thought the grounds were very nice when we drove up, hotel staff extremely friendly and full of a lot of good local info. The beds were very comfortable, although I thought the two pillows on the bed were stingy. There was a nice microwave and fridge that was actually the largest hotel fridge I've ever seen. Maybe 50-60% bigger than most hotel fridges. The bath towels were plush and thick and I was thrilled to see Bath & Body Works amenities. A nice suprise was the lotion that I actually wear from B&BW (Coconut Lime Verbena) and had with me. Very cool.

I did not use the indoor pool but my husband thought it was very nice and warm at night. The fitness room is small and in a room that adjoins the pool and hall...little strange.

The complimentary breakfast was the standard continental fare...not bad at all. The location was about 1.5 mi outside of downtown McMinnville, so we cabbed it a few times. I would definitely come back here again!

“good location for wine country weekend”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 October 2010

Stayed here with friends for weekend tour of the beautiful Oregon wine country. We picked the hotel based on the $75/night rate on Expedia. Most of the area is bed and breakfast and many ran over $175/night. We wanted to spend our money on wine and dining out, so went with this one. We were very happy to find our room was large, clean, had a comfortable bed ( a little on the soft side), and there was an included hot breakfast. We spent most of our time in the Dundee and Newberg area wineries (So BEAUTIFUL!!!), but also visited Carelton. Would highly recommend this hotel for being conveinent to wineries, clean and an excellent value!

“A little disappointed.”

This hotel was just not as nice as I'd thought it would be. The layout in our room was a little weird; the sinks were right next to the beds, so that if someone got up before everyone else and wanted to get ready they would wake the other people up. The furnishings/etc. were fine but not great; the pillows were actually really uncomfortable and I couldn't really get comfortable on them.

The breakfast was really good, except on the second day I came down shortly before they closed and there was basically no food left. When I asked the attendant if we could get some more, it was rather grudgingly doled out.

As far as the fitness center, of the three pieces of equipment two were broken when we were there. The pool, however, was quite nice and very warm.

In general, I don't think that I would return to this hotel, would probably try the Comfort Inn across the street.
