My family, myself, my partner, my 16 year old daughter & my 13 year old son, headed to Mcminnville, OR. During spring break we wanted to experience the Tree to Tree Adventure Park ropes course together, both for a fun challenge & personal growth benefits.
We stayed here one night last week & would have in the future were it not for this event. As well as the Best Western Vineyard Inn, where we stayed the following night & learned that they share the same owner/employee population.
My partner & I both smoke American Spirit cigarettes, when & where allowed. It's not permitted in my home or car if my children are present. In fact, I'm not comfortable smoking around anyone that doesn't & will even roll up my car window while parked if there are non-smokers in the car next to me(my own mother has seen me smoking less than a one-hand count over the 25 years that I've been a regular smoker). We know it's a disgusting habit but even worse is when people flick their 'butts', adding liter on top of air pollution. The point is, I consider myself to be a considerate smoker.
WELL GUESS WHAT! I got a call the next day from Red Lion informing me of an additional $75 charge to my account accusing us of smoking in our room. When I tried pointing out the obvious to the manager, well, she's either working on commission or retains NO(absolutely NONE!) common sense.
Their 'evidence' is in the bag. Two cigarette butts found in the trash can, previously emptied of any remaining tobacco before being placed in his pocket while smoking outside. This fact is also in their evidence. Everyone knows most all motels/hotels have security cameras in every hallway, every entrance/exit, & of parking lot. Did she even bother skimming through the recorded video to see if we were going outside to smoke? How likely is it that we would travel outside to 'leper-corner' 6-7 times, just to turn around & smoke in our room for an extra $75? Instead of getting a pro-smoking room - which we didn't bother asking about because it's not an option when my kids are present. The front desk clerk that checked us into the Red Lion also checked us in the following night at the Best Western across town. We saw her several times trekkin' back & forth to leper-corner throughout the evening during our stay at RL. When I asked her to recall the previous evening & seeing us, she was very clear, 'Oh, ya! Your guys were back & forth a bunch of times!'
Right, then. So, two filters, no ashes. In the trash, next to the toilet. 1+1=2. 2+2=4. 2+0=$75? Somethings missing. Whether it's common sense or logic or human decency that's lacking it sure got in the way & caused us to loose at least two hours of our family vacation time together trying to deal with this. I've worked the front desk at a Best Western & various other tourist relations & have NEVER seen this type of treatment & disregard displayed to the customers. My kids are both teenagers, so that time is quite precious & important to me. Needless to say, I'm NOT pleased about this treatment & situation that's occurred. The $75 charge? Keep it! I want my flippin' day back!
