The Bad: Desk closes at 10 pm, so if you have a problem after 10pm like we did no one answers the phone. The problem? We turned back the bed and noticed small black hairs all over the sheets, at first it looked like a hairy cat had been sleeping all over the bed, then we noticed that these were black body hairs and a few pubic hairs, then we noticed a cluster of small insect eggs, also noticed that there was only a thin sheet between the mattress and us, what really grossed us out was the long head hair we found, and the pillows were hairy too. Not wanting to pay $160.00 a night to sleep there, I set out to find somebody or an open maid closet. I found an open unlocked door and discovered I found the night manager's apt, I yelled out and found "David". I told him what was happening.
The Good: David came up to the room and immediately saw the problem as well as the dirty and damp carpet we had found along with the piece of driftwood that hadn't been cleaned up by housekeeping. He immediately checked and moved us to a King suite that was clean, and pre-inspected the room before he moved us. He reacted immediately and informed us that he could only authorize 20% off, but urged us to speak to the manager in the morning, he also stated he would write it up in detail for the manager. True to his word he had written a good report, taping the piece of driftwood to the paper he wrote. As compensation we got one night free, and the other night at a reduced rate. The manager informed me that our housekeeper had done this before and that the housekeeper would be fired that day. She also was willing to refund the second night and allow us to move hotels if we wanted to. As the suite was nice and actually clean we decided to stay.
The Ugly: A hairy bed, continental breakfast is waffles cereal and wrapped Otis Spunkmeyer muffins There is no fruit, there is 2% milk, coffee and juice. no protein items at all. At night the smoke from the campfires on the beach blows right into the room, no A/C so the only way to vent it is to open your door, and the nearest hallway window and leave your door open. So much for privacy and security.
I was really put off by the hairy bed, though the hotel in all fairness did try to make it right, I do not see myself staying here again. If you don't mind the smoke and other problems the view from the rooms is beautiful, and Mo's is walking distance across the parking lot.
