Our family loves coming to Pelican Shores. We have stayed here two to three times a year for the past 5 years. We always reserve the Fireplace Suite on the top floor. Always quiet, very clean and great views. The recent upgrades to the mini kitchen; new microwave and fridge and the new hide-a-bed and TV in the living room are great improvements. The kids love the pool and we use the barbeque every visit. The staff is great and always friendly and helpful. I'll have to agree with other writers that the continental breakfast could be somewhat improved but should not be considered a negative. The quiet location yet close enough to town is another great hotel advantage. Private and easy beach access is another plus.

Clean place; comfortable beds; congenial staff; away from the mega-hotels and downtown; quiet; continental breakfast is typical packaged bad food, but a way to fill your gut for the morning; the place is great, and we'd go back for sure.

This place turned out to be a great bargain -- $89.00 (in February) a night for a comfortable queen bed room with a stunning ocean view. When we drove in, we thought "oh, well, it doesn't look too great," but upon seeing the room we started changing our mind. Beach access is down an easy flight of stairs. The motel has been totally and nicely refurbished. There is also an indoor swimming pool and continental breakfast, coffee all day and some cookies in the evening. We were so pleasantly surprised, and will try to get that room again (108).

The place was nice. Had all the basics. Nice it was on the beach, nice location for the city. Close to the Casino (15-20 min walk or a couple min drive), free shuttle to and from the casino which was nice to avoid drunk driving or paying taxi. Continental breakfst could have been a touch better but not bad enough to complain. Good staff, they helped me jump my car when it was dead from light on over night. They had jumper cables on hand which was good because i didnt have mine.
The heater smelled weird when i intially turned it on. couldnt tell if it was the fireplace or heater becuase i turned them both on. called the office and they offered immediate service and extra blankets, i declined both because heat wasnt needed, just testingg-- just didnt want to be charged for something i didnt do.
Overall this place has all the basics you'd need to have a nice getaway weekend, price was good, i would consider staying again and reccommending to friends. I didnt use the pool so no comment on that, however, if you have kids or want to swim/excercise its nice swimming is an option. no workout room... but that wasnt a big deal to me. curling 40 oz beers and lifting 24 packs is all i need. if you are a jogger you should probably just run on the beach anyway
