My boyfriend and I booked for only one night to stay here, and I'm sorry we did. Within a half hour after we arrived to the room, I noticed a small bug crawling on my arm. I look down at the white pillows on the bed and see tons of small fleas jumping all over the place. We called someone at the front desk to come and look, and after showing them that our bed was covered in FLEAS, they moved us to a new room. No one on staff showed any kind of remorse for our problems, and they did not wish to speak to us about anything. In that half hour, I sustained 23 flea bites. which, I have to say, is making today absolutely miserable for me. The fact that we were only in that room for such a short period of time and received THAT many bites is a clear indication of how little they clean their rooms. The fleas aside, no one said a word to us after we received keys to another room, and frustrated, i went down and talked to the lady at the front desk who indicated she was the guest services manager. Instead of apologizing, she immediately jumped to the conclusion that I wanted my money back by offering a $30 discount (which is a joke, by the way, as the room was a $100 and they should have given us the room for FREE for the disgusting state it was in) and, seeing that I was getting nowhere at trying to let her know that we really just wanted someone to COMMUNICATE with us, rather than hand us $30 to fix the problem. I will never stay in this hotel again, and I honestly think the distress of the 23 FLEA BITES is worth more than the $30 I got refunded for the room switch. Absolutely horrid customer service, on top of a filthy, flea-ridden room. My boyfriend and I understand that things happen, rooms do not get cleaned, it cannot always be perfect... but fleas are really pushing that envelope. Additionally, an actual, sincere APOLOGY would have been much more welcomed than thirty bucks. What is $30 going to do for me? I've got flea bites all over my body, and itching like crazy, have had to disinfect all of the clothes and items I brought into that hotel room, and am covered in calamine lotion... all from less than an HOUR in one of their hotel rooms. To be fair, the room probably would've been really nice had I not been exposed to the filth that was hiding in its carpets.
Room Tip: Ask them when the last time the room to be stayed in was cleaned!

It is very unfortunate that there has been such a misunderstanding, as I feel we did apologize very much so. We on staff, were horrified by the situation, moved you rooms immediately and asked you if you would like us to move you. We called the next room and asked if everything was okay, and what could we do to make this better. We started somewhere, and did not yet know you had been bitten. We have since credited the card of the person who paid for your room, and hope you will come away with this satisfied. In your earlier email, you were very happy with the attentiveness and apologies from our Engineer. We hope that you will consider coming back to the Phoenix Inn on your next visit to Lake Oswego.
