“Disappointment”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 July 2011

Our long awaited stay here was such a disappointment. The owners are no longer there and the couple who are managing it are definitely not experienced. The room was very cute and the bed was nice. But as we looked around, we found large spider webs in the windows, dirt on the floor and in the corners, bird poop on the glass topped table outside. We never did figure out how to make the shower work. Our refrigerator and water were in another building which was also cute but dirty. There was not a coffee maker in our room.

For breakfast, we were served eggs with hard yolks (we requested over easy or sunny side), "home fries" which were small cubes of frozen potatoes with nothing else to jazz them up and make them appetizing. The lady of the house offered us a senseless stream of chatter including three separate tirades about why she disliked Los Angeles (we both call L.A. home). Then she decided she needed to start her potato salad and banged and clanged around in the kitchen as we were finishing our meal. It was not a pleasant breakfast.

Later in the day, July 4, when we called to tell them we had several issues, they told us they wanted us out. So, on the evening of July 4, we had to fore go our plans for a concert and cancel our dinner reservations so that we could find and move to a new place. Cobblestone offered us no assistance nor did they adjust our rate.

Room Tip: There is only one room. Coffee and refrigerator not available in room. Get good instructions for u...

“Nice place for the night, fun and comfortable. Good breakfast.”

We needed a place to stay at the last moment, and this was available and very nice. The city of Jacksonville is a fun place to look around with nice hiking, and would be a good place to visit for a day. We would have stayed in the cheaper room but it wasn't available at the time. It was a nice location for the night. Great breakfast!

“Love this place!”

My seven year old son and I stayed at Cobblestone Cottages in the summer of 2007, after I found it on the internet. We couldn't have been happier with our stay. Sarah is a gracious and friendly owner, and she went out of her way to make our time there great.

We stayed in the room on the main level of the big house, and although it was small, we loved the selection of books and the enormous bathroom.

Breakfasts were elaborate and delicious, and since we were the only guests there for two of the nights, Sarah pulled out all the stops for my son, doing a sock monkey theme one morning, and a beach theme the other day. She had cute accessoriesk, themed food, and even special music playing for us.

Out in the back, past the phenomenally lovely gardens, my son loved the huge 'beach' or sand box.

I can't wait to stay here again. The little guest house room would make a very romantic place to stay when I come back again with just my husband.

“Great B&B”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 July 2007

For my boyfriend's birthday, I gave him tickets to Britt Festival in Jacksonville, Oregon, and a stay at Cobblestone Cottages. Honestly, I didn't know what to expect; I found this B&B via a link from the Britt website and was trusting that everything would be adequate.

As it turned out, Cobblestone was more than adequate. We were met by Sarah, the owner, as she mowed her spacious lawn in front of the house. She offered us a drink and showed us our room, the Meadowlark. It was equipped with a TV, VCR, small library, spacious closet with two bathrobes, full bed, and good-night chocolates. We had our own (large!) bathroom which was fully furnished with sample-sizes of shampoo, toothpaste, etc. Sarah makes her own soaps for the guest bathrooms (and also sells them). Our room had a private entrance so we didn't have to tramp through the house. Sarah lent us her own wine glasses, a corkscrew, and beach chairs to take to the concert.

In the morning we enjoyed breakfast: a choice of waffles with fresh fruit, a farmer's breakfast (ham-and-eggs type) or a giant breakfast burrito, plus a fruit bowl, juice, and coffee. We ate outside in the gazebo.

Our room was $89.00. There is a separate guest house, the Morning Dove Suite, which rents for $129.00.

We enjoyed it so much we've booked a return trip this weekend. It's a great bargain in an area that has mostly expensive motels & B&Bs.

  • Liked — Friendliness of the owners, beautiful setting, good value
  • Disliked — Room was a bit hot, but that was because we didn't set the air condditioning correctly.
