When my husband and I arrived at Steamboat the owner placed us in a cabin by the river. When we entered the cabin there was an extremely pungent smell, something like sewage. We went back to the office and told the owner who promptly placed us in The Falls cabin which was an extremely nice upgrade. The room had a fireplace in the living room and a porch which overlooked the river. The bathroom had a very nice shower.
The owner later told us that the original cabin was fine. The odor was from propane and as soon as she turned the stove on the odor disappeared.
We apologized for causing her any problems but she was very gracious and was happy that we liked our new cabin.
Dinner at the Inn was extremely nice. They started us off with wine and appetizers in the Library then they called us and two other couples in for dinner. Dinner was served family style and was delicious. We started out with mushroom soup. Then we were served steak, green beans, a delicious sweet potato souffle,wonderful homemade bread and chocolate souffles for dessert. Everything was delicious. I don't eat chocolate so when our hostess noticed that I wasn't eating she asked me if I would like something else. She brought me a fruit platter.
Breakfast was also delicious although I do feel that it should be complimentary.
All and all we had a wonderful time.

My husband and I had hiked in the mist all morning and then headed to Steamboat for lunch....so warm and cozy and delicious! Next trip to this area and we will stay here! The folks were friendly and the food delicious. We took one of the famous breakfast cinnamon rolls with us for a snack later. Explore the grounds after your meal and see the river view from this spot...one of the best in the area. We were checking out the flowers and the owner came out to see what we were looking at and we had a nice chat....can't wait to go back!

We stayed here one night on the way to Crater Lake--we had one of the river houses.
It was charming and well appointed and perfect for our stop on the trip for one night.
I imagine that anglers would find this a great spot to visit. The house was a steps from a great stretch of the fly fishing only Umpqua river.

We have mixed feelings about the Inn. Perfect location to enjoy the river. Especially loved sitting on the deck of the cottage, sipping wine, listening and watching the river. Aside from that, do feel it was overpriced. Though clean, cottage was average. Small bathroom with small shower. Average linens and beds. Breakfasts in the the cafe were less than average. We looked forward to the evening dinner, but were very disappointed. Food was terrible and grossly over-priced. Did not enjoy the bench seating. No other restaurants close by so are forced to eat there.
