I stayed five nights at the TownePlace Suites Hillsboro, Oregon using Marriott reward points. (It's worth noting that the hotel is only a "1" on Marriott's 7-level "point" scale, which means that you can stay five nights for only 30,000 points---a bargain, in my opinion). The hotel was perfectly located for me. I wanted a hotel that was close to, but not in, Portland; was within walking distance to the "MAX" light-rail train; had good highway access for out-of-town trips; and was not located at a busy highway exit that made it difficult to go walking (on leisure trips, I like to take a long walk after breakfast, weather permitting).
The hotel met all those needs. The MAX train was a pleasant (and safe) 12 minute walk away. Route 26 (the main highway from Portland to the beaches) was five minutes away. And the hotel bordered a beautiful residential neighborhood (Orenco Station) that was a delight to walk through every morning. There were plenty of bars and restaurants nearby, some of them within walking distance.
The hotel is spread out over about eight or nine two-story buildings. I was on the second floor of a building away from the main "clubhouse" building, but it was only a 2 minute walk away. I never heard a noise at night.
The front-desk staff were very friendly and helpful, as was the general manager. The housekeeping services were excellent. The breakfast offerings were about average for this type of hotel, maybe a little above average (except for the coffee, which I felt was weak).
Overall, I couldn't have been happier with my stay.
