We enjoyed the hotel. It was clean, the people were friendly and the continental breakfast was very good.

I wrote a review a few months ago on this hotel. I was happy in general, other than a cleanliness problem. We had to return to Grants Pass and decided to try it again, hoping the previous issue was an isolated problem. Bad decision.

This time, the first morning we accidentally spilled some baby powder on the floor while getting dressed for the day. It remained for the rest of our stay - through 2 'cleanings'. I have to wonder, if they are not doing something as simple as cleaning the floor - what other basic cleaning is getting skipped? Apparently the problems we had were not an isolated incidence but a habit. We were on a different floor, with different housekeeping staff.

This trip we noticed a difference in the bed. It was uncomfortable and we both tossed and turned all night. I heard a staff person ask another lodgers how they liked the new mattress - which I assume explains why we had such an uncomfortable night instead of the restful sleep we had last time.

Next time we visit this lovely community we will be staying somewhere else.

NOTE: Management was not told of these problems, nor given the chance to address them. Doing so last time had no apparent impact.

This is your classic Holiday Inn Express -- predictably clean and comfortable. I travel a ton around the state for work and stay in many different hotels. I appreciate this HIE because it is newer, clean and comfortable. Very conveniently near grocery stores, pharmacy and coffee shop. Just off the interstate, but I didn't hear anything in my room.

Not a bad hotel, but unfortunately on our driving trip thru the PacNW, it was sandwiched between the Hampton Inn @Red Bluff CA, which is the best mid-priced value suites hotel we've ever stayed at, and the 5-star RiverPlace on Portland's waterfront. Thus, in comparison with both, this one suffered.

It's okay. We've stayed at other HI-Express hotels in other cities, and they're all pretty much the same: very deliberately average in decor, style, and construction quality.
