The little missus and I have stayed at the lighthouse Inn perhaps 25 times over the last several years, and honestly, even with a little remodelling and TLC, it would still be mediocre. Yet despite that, for the price, you won't do much better near downtown Florence. The best things it has going for it are its location just off the bridge (close to old town Florence), the history of it (goes back a long way), and the owners' personalities (very nice folks from Eugene).

This hotel is in serious need of remodeling. It is in a good location across from old town on highway 101 but that is about all it has going for it. The furniture looks like it came from a garage sale and as an example of how little they spend on maintenance the toilet seat had the paint worn through at the two spots where the lid rests on the seat. The bed was not so comfortable either.

I made the mistake of booking a three night stay on the internet, after two days we asked the manager if we could check out early and get a refund for the last day because we were not happy with the room. The manager said that they would talk to the owner but that I probably would not get a refund if we checked out early. We checked out early anyway and asked the manager to talk to the owner about getting us a refund. We did not hear again from the Lighthouse Inn, I would have thought that they would at least have the courtesy to contact me and say " We talked to the owners but they were unable to give you a refund for the day on which you did not stay".

Black mold in the corners, very dirty and stained and the best part, I found a black sock in my bed. I do not have black socks and was left to assume that this was the property of someone who had stayed in that bed before me. Leaving me also assuming that the bed was just made after the last person stayed and the sheets did not get changed. I stay in many hotels throughout Oregon for my job and have been in some dives but this place takes the cake. I did not have any problems with the staff but my co-workers did and said they were extremely rude.

If you're looking for luxury, go somewhere else. But I found it to be charming and comfortable. The room was spotless, the bed was comfortable (I never find hotel beds to be comfortable), and the staff was friendly. My only complaint was the noise from the room above me (who paces the room nonstop from 11pm - 2 am?), but that is not the fault of the hotel. I've stayed in nicer hotels, but for someone on a budget, this was a great place to stay.
