Stayed one night at the Coburg Red Lion in conjunction with a small convention there. The location of the hotel was extremely convenient what with the convention inside the hotel and lots of restaurants and shopping very close by. However the hotel is tired and worn. The staff was very pleasant and provided what we asked for - even early check in. Our king bed room was over $99 for the night and we were disappointed. Entrance to all rooms is from outside the hotel, therefore all rooms are susceptible to outdoor noise and there is a lot of it - trucks and buses travel through the hotel parking lot. On one side of the hotel you have the freeway, so we asked for the other side since it seemed like it would be more quiet. The side that our room was on was facing a truck delivery alley... very noisy with back-up beeping noises and people talking. We had to run the A/C in the room to drown out the noise. The balcony side of our room overlooked the hotel courtyard where there is a swimming pool. Nice view, however because of the pool our room had a constant strong smell of chlorine... my clothes still smelled of chlorine when I got home and unpacked. The furniture in the room had a very worn look to it - lots of nicks, scratches, pieces of veneer missing etc., the cable television had a wavy static pattern intermittently throughout the evening, and the top drawer to the big armoire would not stay closed - a potential hazard when passing by the foot of the bed - the required pathway for the person who was on that side of the bed. The bed was plenty comfortable, but outside noises kept waking us up. We found our room to be overpriced considering the problems we encountered. We have stayed in a lot nicer places for less money.
