“They don't honor your reservations and their website is very misleading.”

We arrived to check in for a two night stay in late July 2011. We had two couples in our party. We had made reservations sixonths in advance.

Only to be told that because of a wedding, we could only stay one night at the hotel, then they were sure we would like staying in a house they rent out three miles away. Not a warm reception.

Then, dinner that night....ugh! The web site makes it sound like you had entree choices. Nope! Family style, which was Cornish game hens....take em or leave em. Three of our party really felt cheated.

After dinner relax on screened porch? Not possible due to LOTS of biting mosquitoes inside the screened porch! On top of that the porch needed swept, and the used ashtrays with cigarette butts needed dumping.

Okay, not a good experience. Would recommend Steens Country Cabin in Andrews, Fields Station in Fields, or the Horseshoe Motel in Burns as very much better.

“Hotel Diamond is a real jewel”

We spent 2 nights during our trip through eastern Oregon. We made reservations after learning the French Glen hotel was full and wanted to find lodging that wasn't too far away. As it happened--we lucked out. Hotel Diamond is a wonderful place to stay. We thoroughly enjoyed the peaceful surroundings, excellent service, delicious meals, and friendly atmosphere. We didn't miss TV, wifi and all the rest. That is the charm of staying at the hotel -- enjoying the Malheur Wildlife Refuge and taking in the history of the area. We highly recommend the Hotel and are bringing family with us to visit again in 2011.

“All ages welcome”

We stayed with extended family: sub-teen through grandparents. Had a great time. In the past we had all camped in Eastern Oregon a lot, we weren't surprised by mosquitoes, few people, or great distances. With this background, we enjoyed our stay at the friendly, comfortable and old-fashioned Diamond Hotel. The people went out of their way to help make our stay special. The food was varied and very tasty. Other guests were friendly and fun to be with. Out stay here made trips to the special areas of the Steens Mountain, Alvord Desert and Catlow Valley easy day trips. We will certainly recomment the hotel to others.

“An Honest Review”

We were hesitant to visit Hotel Diamond but had heard so many good things that we decided to go anyway. We now return each year. For those of you who can tear yourselves away from the reality TV, blackberries, Wifi and constant bellyaching, you will find that Hotel Diamond is a place to relax and enjoy the surroundings. The “unique” furniture, or as some like to call it “antique” furniture, was fitting for the well, renovated historic hotel. The food is excellent of often comes from family recipes that have been passed down for generations. There is a small cabin behind the restaurant where we ate lunch, played pool, enjoyed a game of cards, and visited with the friendly owners. The most relaxing time we’ve had was spent at Hotel Diamond and I would recommend it to anyone.

“Charming...hardly”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 June 2010

Here's my review of the DIAMOND HOTEL. What a PIT....ugh....other than the screen porch and the comfy couch in the entry way, what IS there to like....the mosquitos, or would it be the uncomfortable/squeeky bed...or maybe it is the "unique" furniture ah-la Salvation Army, or the carpeting in the bathroom ...or it could be the no cable, no puzzles, no games, no wifi or no books. Even my husband took a sleeping pill....and he's NEVER had one before. I don't recommend it...charm....that's not what I'd call it.
