We enjoy funky, independently owned motels, and would rather spend money and time with local characters rather than with a large chain. This motel is like going back in time with a charm of the 1930's. The proprietor, Kay, is enthusiastic and friendly. The rooms are "cute" and very clean. The Queen mattress in our room was incredibly comfortable... an almost new pillow-top. We slept well in spite of being near the highway and didn't really notice much road noise.
If you simply want a good place to stay why pay for for WiFi, pools, sauna's, etc. You are within walking distance of several eateries which means you don't risk driving after a couple of toddies. This puts you right at the harbor, bridge, and whale watching building.
The room was equipped with the latest TV's, Dish Network, and DVD player. Free movies in the office can be borrowed which we did because there were no movie channels on the Dish. There is no phone in the room but we used Kay's cell phone to make a quick call... free long distance.
The room had two small dressers, a small refrigerator,a microwave, and walk-in closet. Free continental breakfast is provided. As mentioned in a previous review, the old gas wall heaters are noisy but we only ran ours to knock the initial chill off the room.
Total cost including tax was $63 with a 20% discount for a weekday.
