“Not bad for a night”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 February 2012

This is a very basic motel, but everything worked and was clean. The gentleman at the front desk was very nice. I paid about $58 (including tax, etc.) and found it to be a reasonable value. The location is great if you want to walk explore the charming downtown area. There are plenty of nice restaurants and shops within a few minutes easy stroll. There is nothing luxurious about this place, but if you want a decent place to stay in a good location this is a good option.

“OK if you're a football fan”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 November 2011

The downtown Corvallis location, right along the river, is great. We opened our window in the morning and watched rowing crews go by on the water. Shops and restaurants are just a pleasant stroll away on the riverwalk. We were there on a Saturday and enjoyed the riverfront farmers market.

Unfortunately, that's all the good things I have to say about this hotel. We were not there for the OSU football game, but evidently the other 99% of the lodgers were. The people in the room next to us had friends coming in and out all night. All the laughing and stomping around the room was pretty annoying, and the paper-thin walls made it even worse. We could hear just about every word they were saying. People were knocking on doors in the hallways, and people were talking in the halls while we were trying to sleep. Finally at 1:30 a.m., I contacted the front desk. I'll give the person credit for taking my complaint seriously and calling the people in the room next door. Though they quieted down, they still stayed up until at least 2:30 talking with the TV on. Since the hotel probably has no plans to soundproof its rooms, I strongly advise that you bring ear plugs--unless, of course, you are there to party the night before the football game and don't care about sleeping.

Honestly, the room seemed a little grubby. Maybe it was just the age of the hotel and the old-fashioned blankets.

The breakfast was atrocious. There was a waffle machine but a long line to use it. Pre-packaged pastries were another featured item. No fresh fruit at all, not even a banana--maybe they ran out, but even that's inexcusable. There were signs posted telling you not to take food away from the breakfast area. (It's not a breakfast room, by the way, but just a little space to the side of the lobby.) So where are you supposed to eat your breakfast when there are only a few tables--with about 15 chairs total--and a mob of people in the breakfast area?

The staff was professional and seemed to care about doing a good job, but it doesn't change the fact that our one-night stay here was very unpleasant.

“Overpriced and Underwhelming”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 October 2011

The positives: The young-lady at the front desk was very sweet and the breakfast in the morning was actually quite good.

The Negatives:
Overpriced: Rooms were dated and old-smelling. Actually, the smell was really quite terrible. The breakfast does not make this place worth $85 a night.
Noisy: Noisy halls, noisy neighbors, noise from the freeway.
Uncomfortable: The bed was AWFUL. The pillows had the density of a mailing envelope. The bathroom was spartan, but clean.

I won't stay here again, we feel we paid way more than what this place was worth.

“Be prepared to pay exorbitant prices for a one star motel.”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 October 2011

I stayed here for business and was charged about $58 for one night and approximately $117 for two nights because of a football game. I have stayed here several times before and only stay here for the location. The blanket was from the dark ages, there was a piece of plastic peeling off the tub. When we arrived there were no towels and garbage in the cans. There was a problem with the toilet and I was told to go downstairs and pick up the plunger because there was no maintenance man. When I left my room within 5 minutes, the maintenance man was in the hall fixing a bulb! Okay no objection at $58 a night but at $117, what a rip off. On the plus side they have added fridges and a microwaves.

Room Tip: Ask to be on the second or third floor facing the river.

“This property would make a better parking lot”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 September 2011

Super 8 is not the place to stay in Corvallis. You would be more comfortable bringing a sleeping bag and throwing it in the bushes along the river walk. Let me describe our weekend. We had 3 families checking in after an OSU game. 10 people in line one person behind the desk. After 20minutes the first family in our party gets their turn. They finish and are told what room to go to. Before the second of our group is done checking in the first comes back to counter to say "there is a couple in our room doing you know what". Turns out she sent them to the wrong room, but yet their key opened the door (scary). The second of our party gets their keys, but of course before I get to check in they're back and the keys don't work. Finally my turn.Turns out that when I booked online I booked two rooms...which I didn't. After trying to clear up the mistake I was told too bad i'll have to call corporate.
The rooms were disgusting. The TV reception was so bad I kept looking for the rabbit ears to try to fix. Breakfast.....I don't have the patience to go into full detail just how bad it was, but let me just say it was same girl working the front desk as the night before, must be on a 24 hour shift, coffee is gone, waffle maker doesn't work, toaster takes 15 minutes to cook only one side.Turns out the girl checking people in & out is also responsible for keeping the food and coffee stocked, probably also responsible for cleaning the rooms. I understand that the Beaver game increases the load but to charge $150 a night for a dump is ridiculous. She was the only one we saw working there all weekend and it shows by the state of the place and her hospitality (NOT). Do yourself a favor and stay anywhere else but here.

Room Tip: Stay in Salem
