The downtown Corvallis location, right along the river, is great. We opened our window in the morning and watched rowing crews go by on the water. Shops and restaurants are just a pleasant stroll away on the riverwalk. We were there on a Saturday and enjoyed the riverfront farmers market.
Unfortunately, that's all the good things I have to say about this hotel. We were not there for the OSU football game, but evidently the other 99% of the lodgers were. The people in the room next to us had friends coming in and out all night. All the laughing and stomping around the room was pretty annoying, and the paper-thin walls made it even worse. We could hear just about every word they were saying. People were knocking on doors in the hallways, and people were talking in the halls while we were trying to sleep. Finally at 1:30 a.m., I contacted the front desk. I'll give the person credit for taking my complaint seriously and calling the people in the room next door. Though they quieted down, they still stayed up until at least 2:30 talking with the TV on. Since the hotel probably has no plans to soundproof its rooms, I strongly advise that you bring ear plugs--unless, of course, you are there to party the night before the football game and don't care about sleeping.
Honestly, the room seemed a little grubby. Maybe it was just the age of the hotel and the old-fashioned blankets.
The breakfast was atrocious. There was a waffle machine but a long line to use it. Pre-packaged pastries were another featured item. No fresh fruit at all, not even a banana--maybe they ran out, but even that's inexcusable. There were signs posted telling you not to take food away from the breakfast area. (It's not a breakfast room, by the way, but just a little space to the side of the lobby.) So where are you supposed to eat your breakfast when there are only a few tables--with about 15 chairs total--and a mob of people in the breakfast area?
The staff was professional and seemed to care about doing a good job, but it doesn't change the fact that our one-night stay here was very unpleasant.
