This is a lovely hotel, but situated in a very small town where not much else stays open (even the next door cinema only has shows at weekends!). We arrived at 5.30pm, and were courteously booked in to our very nice 3rd floor room (306, which had dressing gowns, complimentary bottles of water, etc). We could park right out front, but were told that if we wanted food then the deli opposite was only open till six o/c (though you can order food in advance we believe), the drive-in burger bar shut at seven, and for anything later, we would have to drive on to Fossil, some twenty miles (and/or minutes) away. The room was comfy, very quiet (as expected when the town was comatose), and we slept well. We had a small continental breakfast back on the landing next morning before leaving quite early. Check out was nice with plenty of help given by owner Rob. If you are in the area (with John Day NP and the Columbia River gorge within easy reach by car) then this is a great hotel to find your self in - just don't expect the town to stay open after 7pm!
