The inconsistency of the various Comfort Inns always leaves me wondering what I’m in for. This turned out to be a nice, quite little property right off the freeway. For me it was perfectly located for my trip, and I enjoyed the proximity to the newly renovated mall for some shopping and dining.

I’ve been in some fairly large Comfort Suites rooms, but my room here was nothing special. Cramming in six lamps and five chairs does not a suite make. The hotel was clean and comfortable and the room was complete with a microwave and refrigerator. Breakfast was typical Comfort Inn fare with scrambled (liquid) eggs, link sausage, waffles, cereal, juice, yogurt, etc. I like the dedicated breakfast room that is large enough to accommodate the guests.

The indoor pool looked inviting, but the hot tub was down for maintenance (with nobody working on it for the three days I was there). I was surprised to see a sauna; it looked great but I didn’t take the time to try it out. I did use the exercise equipment, but remember to bring your iPod since one can’t hear the TV above the racket of the low quality treadmill. They have some free weights so you can design your own workout.

All in all I thought this was a good value and fit my needs well.

This hotel is great is you smoke or can check in early to get the non-smoking room you booked. We stayed at this hotel for one night in a double Queen room that we booked through the Comfort Inn website. Although we booked a non-smoking room that is not what we were given. We checked in at 5pm (on a weeknight) and went up to our room. When we entered the room, the smell of smoke was extremely strong. Since we had booked a non-smoking room we called the front desk to verify that our room was indeed non-smoking and were told it was not. We asked to be moved to another room and were told that all non-smoking rooms were booked for the night. We asked to speak to the manager and were told she would not be available until morning. When we asked if there was anything else that could be done, the front desk person gave us the manager's home phone number. I thought this seemed odd, but we called the number anyway. We did reach the manager and she was much more helpful than the front desk person. We told her our problem and she said she would call the front desk and call us back. She called us back after 20 minutes and told us we could have the room at a discounted price, and we could change out the comforters on the beds. We changed the comforters, but still awoke in the morning smelling like smoke. Our night clothes had to be separated from the rest of our clothing so the smell wouldn't transfer to all our clothes.

Other than this one incident the hotel was fine. The front desk person was pleasant, but obviously had no power to make decisions. The room was large and quiet, the pool was nice, and the breakfast was good. In the end the manager did make things right by lowering the price of the the room, but we still won't stay here again.

My wife and I stayed at the Comfort Suites in Clackamas recently as we wended our way through Oregon on a two-week-long trip. We chose it because we wanted to be away from the city of Portland itself (even while having easy access to that beautiful locale) and because we wanted to get an early start the day following our stay. We put a lot of stock in TripAdvisor reviews and though the ones for this motel were uneven, the great majority offered kudos and so we also decided we give it a try. We couldn't be more happy that we did! Everything about the place was special--it was right off the 205 Freeway but not so close as to be noisy; the rooms, at least if ours was a fair indication, are all nicely appointed; there was a very convenient and extra nice spa, workout room, and large swimming pool available for use; the breakfast in the morning was hot and a "plus" all around; the price was, as others have previously noted, very, very reasonable; and when checkout came, the motel even furnished express service reminiscent of large city hotels but rarely seen in a suburban location such as this. For those who wish to shop, the huge Clackamas Town Center mall is an easy two miles, via the 205, away with on and off service possible in both cases. There were dozens of restaurants both within easy driving distance from the motel and/or located all around the mall. We certainly will return to the Comfort Suites the next time that we are in the Portland area and others, regardless of their reason for coming to the area, would be well advised to do the same. It may not be perfect--few places are--but we'd have no problem in rating it a 4.5 if we could.

We spent one night here before heading for the airport in the morning. It's not terribly convenient to anything in Portland, but is right off the interstate, so getting on the road isn't a problem. There are several malls one or two exits away. Luckily, we had an afternoon flight. Easy check in and check out. Very comfortable rooms. Excellent breakfast included scrambled eggs with biscuits and gravy in addition to waffles, bagels and the usual offerings. Good value.
